A good example to mention though (how well received? not sure) would be Jan van Gilse's 1940 Thijl, based on the Till Eulenspiegel legend (a 3 hour video exists on YouTube) (see this article about a 2018 production (in Dutch). His earlier Helga von Stavern was in German. There is an interesting site 401 Operas from the Netherlands that seems to contain materials about many of these (some but not all in Dutch) and could help expand this page.
