Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

I have reversed your edits on Pratapaditya - see WP:HISTRS for guidance on appropriate sources. TrangaBellam (talk) 08:56, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Their is any reason for removing the articles? It's not Unsourced or Exaggerated, removing all battles was a exaggeration and pleasing the Mughals. However i added citations for each battle. Raged Bengali Wiki (talk) 09:12, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Did you read the pages, I linked to?
  • Primary sources — Baharistan-i-Ghaibi, Histoire, etc. — are not usable in Wikipedia under any circumstances.
  • Nikhilnath Roy and Satyacharan Shastri were respectively, by proffession, lawyer and Ayurvedacharya. Even if they were historians, ~120-year-old sources are not usable in Wikipedia under any circumstances.
  • A Hindu Fundamentalist blog - seriously?
  • District gazeteers, drafted by colonial bureaucrats, are never acceptable sources except for trivial facts.
Also, it does not appear that your command of English is particularly good — so, please desist from working in controversial areas lest you be banned. TrangaBellam (talk) 14:06, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Now that I looked at some of the content, you are looking at a TBan. It is sheer unhinged to claim that Pratapaditya had invaded Odissa — much less, that he did to avenge the persecution of Hindus and restart Jagannath Yatra — or that he made the Mughals vacate till Benaras or that he won a single battle against the Mughals. You are also unaware that Man Singh had never waged any war against Pratapaditya (p. 222) and such is a figment of imagination by later-day hagiographers. Competence is required. TrangaBellam (talk) 15:01, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TrangaBellam Pratapaditya captured upto Patna and made Chausatti Ghat at Varanasi, Mughals retreated upto their. Sources of Ray, Aniruddha are of Jadunath Sarkar and J.S. was exaggerated, I have sources of Nagendra Nath Ray, Rabindranath Dey and Calcutta review Volumes 13-14 Raged Bengali Wiki (talk) 08:06, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And what are the qualifications of Rabindranath Dey or Nagendra Nath Ray? Why will they be treated at par with doyens like Jadunath Sarkar and Aniruddha Ray? TrangaBellam (talk) 08:45, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TrangaBellam What about Blochman's Ain-i-Akbari,Calcutta Reviews? They are also unreliable? Raged Bengali Wiki (talk) 10:52, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No. You cannot be using sources so old; acclaimed academic historians — Ray, Sarkar, et al. — or none. The next time you engage in sealioning, I will request that you be blocked. TrangaBellam (talk) 12:15, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, using old sources are not allowed. What about Cambridge sources and reliable Oxford and 19's sources Raged Bengali Wiki (talk) 12:17, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Specify the sources. Going by HISTRS, they shall ideally be published from an academic press and within the last four/five decades... TrangaBellam (talk) 12:22, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello. Could you please provide the page number along with the citation in the section where the battles under Pratapaditya on the List of wars involving Bangladesh? I have checked many sources about his accounts and most of them doesn't mention about the battles that present there. Additionally, you have not redirected the link of Akbar nama correctly. If you could provide the snippet view of those events, please provide. Ajayraj890 (talk) 15:15, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Raged Bengali Wiki (talk) 16:43, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

done Raged Bengali Wiki (talk) 06:57, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why did you add that Raja Ramchandra Battle of Bakla Ramchandra has different kingdom in Chandrawip he was allie of pratapaditya but Pratapaditya and his jessore army was not present in that battle, Their is nothing called Siege of Jessore that's the battle of salka only in Salka pratapaditya may fled or retreated and next battle was Khagarghat Raged Bengali Wiki (talk) 07:03, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Then where should I add Ramchandra's battles? Both were allies and had in the same timeline. And the Siege of Jessore is mentioned in the source I've given. Ajayraj890 (talk) 07:15, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
i will do research on Raja Ramchandra of Bakla of his many other battles and make a different section of him. Raged Bengali Wiki (talk) 07:59, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Till then, let it be there. Ajayraj890 (talk) 08:47, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
