Poornima Ravi (born 5 October 1995), also known by her Youtube channel name Araathi is an Indian actress and youtuber, who has primarily appears in Tamil films.[2] She has played many supporting roles in films such as Plan Panni Pannanum (2021) and Annapoorani (2023).[3] She is currently a contestant on the Indian reality TV show, Bigg Boss Season 7, which started in October 2023.[4][5]
Early life
Poornima was born on 5 October 1995 in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. As she grew up she studied at Shrishti Matriculation secondary high school, Vellore. She later pursued a double degree in engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology from 2012 till 2017 and eventually pursued her career on acting.[6][7]
Career
Poornima started her career as an YouTuber and opened up a Youtube channel called "Araathi" on 2 July 2019. She posted videos about Indian Premier League, womens rights and many social yet humorous content on her channel. Her channel has grown to more than 2 million subscribers and more then 550 million times re watched videos on her statistics.[8]
In 2021, director Badri Venkatesh approached her in search of an supporting female character in his romantic-comedy film Plan Panni Pannanum featuring Rio Raj and Remya Nambeesan in the lead. He offered the supporting role to Poornima and she accepted the offer and was starred as the main supporting actress in the film. The following year she appeared in the film Chotta. In 2023, director Nilesh Krishnaa was impressed with Poornima's acting her debut film in 2021 and offered her a supporting role in the film Annapoorani alongside actress Nayanthara in the lead.[9]
In 2023, she participated in the reality show Bigg Boss 7 as a contestant.[10]
