Vanilla extract is NOT aged in bourbon barrels. "Bourbon" vanilla has to do with the geographical source of the vanilla beans (i.e. the Bourbon Islands of Reunion, Mauritius, and Madagascar.) I think it is important, and curious, information, and don't see why take it out?
Is it haraam?

Only because it contains alcohol. Since true vanilla extract, as defined by the FDA, must contain 35% alcohol, my understanding is that Muslims are forbidden to use this. Anyone abstaining from alcohol would need to use imitation vanilla or vanilla made with other natural flavors (WONF).Vanillabean43 (talk) 19:14, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
This wiki entry should be deleted.
The article is about "vanilla extract", but has only a trivial description of extract. It wanders into the topic of "flavoring" and "imitation" (neither of which are "vanilla extract") and then veers totally off-topic, describing rare cases of ppl intoxicated on the 35% ethanol extract.
