Projections[edit]

The pars reticulata does not simply send projection to the 'motor' thalamus, which in turn would project to the cortex, although this is one of its anatomical targets. There is evidence that SNpr output also projects to pre-frontal cortical areas, specifically 9m and 9l (which also receive output from GPi) and 46v, 12l, and area TE (inferotemporal cortex).

Merge proposal[edit]
