Premier League

It’s Wednesday 14th not 15th 2A04:4A43:56CF:C746:CDB5:19CB:EE78:90A4 (talk) 13:13, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Premier League announced it's on the 15th: here Mwiqdoh (talk) 13:55, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester United captain

Harry Maguire is incumbent Manchester United captain. I raised this last season too, as then too it was listed as “TBA” until officially confirmed. This isn’t how other incumbent captains are treated on the page, why are we waiting for him to be named captain every season? Wishful thinking? Steve0377 (talk) 00:46, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Because it is likely that Maguire will leave. Maguire has expressed desire to leave while Ten Hag hasn't been giving him many minutes and seems to want Bruno Fernandes as captain. So if anything, Bruno Fernandes is more likely to be next season's captain than Harry Maguire is. Reda84100 (talk) 18:03, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think that was the response last season tbf. I’d find it easier simply to list the captains that are incumbent rather than attempt to speculate or guess what might happen during the transfer window. Steve0377 (talk) 09:32, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
same here. We should stick to the facts - he's under contract, club captain at the moment, so default is to continue. We shouldn't specualte. Red Devil (talk) 11:07, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection

Shouldn't we add protection for confirmed users, like 2022–23 Premier League? I'm tired to again delete Pochettino as Chelsea manager... Red Devil (talk) 11:13, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Luton Town Home Fixture

Do we know for sure Luton will play their home fixtures at Kenilworth Road ? Japhes23 (talk) 17:32, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So far I haven't seen anything contrary. Do you have any info? Red Devil (talk) 06:48, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I’m not 100% sure but apparently they started renovations hours after promotion. Footyforever (talk) 21:22, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There First Games are Away due to the Renovations AngeloWiki09 (talk) 18:10, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See here, where it says match 2 is at home. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 15:54, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to stadium capacity

Liverpool and Luton are both currently renovating their stadiums, which will likely lead to a change in capacity come the start of the season. Shouldn’t this be mentioned somewhere in the article? I know Anfield’s capacity is supposed to be around 61,000 after renovations are complete in August, not sure about Luton. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 08:11, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure Luton don’t even know what their capacity will be come the start of the season. I see a lot of their news in my local paper. They are redeveloping considerably and are struggling to meet deadlines so who knows what condition the ground will be in come August.--Egghead06 (talk) 08:27, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

change 55 goals to 54 109.76.171.10 (talk) 16:13, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: no reason or reliable source provided to support the proposed change. M.Bitton (talk) 16:19, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stadiums and locations

Map is overlapping and covering up part of the table again. Govvy (talk) 06:58, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

West Ham have hosted over 64,000 this season whereas Liverpool haven’t yet hosted 61,000. 86.15.67.44 (talk) 02:33, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dates in the infobox

What is the purpose of these dates? All fixtures are unique, so i don't see dates as some essential information. Leprazoori (talk) 13:10, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Number audiences

@Red Devil The number 53,097 which you just added is audiences at Wol - Liv match, but capacity of Molineux Stadium is 31,750 Hiền bé Nhỏ (talk) 13:24, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Red Devil {{#expr: <Matchweek 1> + 21572 + 59984 + 11189 + 31872 + ... The third number 11189 is not correct. At worldfootball.net, the audiences of AFC Bournemouth - West Ham United match is 11,000. Hiền bé Nhỏ (talk) 03:07, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think wordlfootball.net is a reliable source. Red Devil (talk) 06:00, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

stadium map

It's overlapping the table again and covering up data. Govvy (talk) 08:01, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Umm, hello?

Just like this, Govvy (talk) 14:26, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Try viewing the article now and see what it looks like. @Jts1882:, I seem to notice four years ago you've made an edit nearly four years ago per Special:Diff/867419219 and hope this works out well. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 16:24, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Much better, thank you. Govvy (talk) 18:02, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Total goal

173 not 174 Hiền bé Nhỏ (talk) 15:39, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there has been a slight miscalculation in goals scored before Newcastle took Sheffield United to the bottom of the table. I have corrected this error. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 15:13, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pope's clean sheets

There's problem with Nick Pope clean sheets - he didn't finish last game with MU, so Premier League stats don't attribute him one - https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/clean_sheet. That's the ref we use for stats on 2023–24 Premier League. In Fantasy Premier League goalkeepers are attributed clean sheats if they play at least 60 mins and don't concede, so Pope has 6 clean sheets (check here). What should we do in statistics on this page? I'll mention that I had previously case with David de Gea, where many statistics don't attribute him one clean sheet, when he was replaced in ~80 minute of Arsenal game (1-0 at that time) by Victor Valdes, who conceded later on. I was told that this doesn't count to his tally. Red Devil (talk) 18:42, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think that should have been counted as a sixth clean sheet as he played 86 minutes. If we put a note saying the Premier League website discounts Pope a clean sheet as he did not play 100% of the MU match. This is a different situation from Talk:2018–19_Premier_League#Clean_sheets where different websites gave different stats for a goalkeeper five seasons ago as his team conceded but in this case Pope should be credited. If Manchester United did score then I don't think the credit of a clean sheet for Pope applies since they did not prevent the opposing team from scoring. A side issue: when I looked here, by sorting out the clean sheets stats, while Pope shows 6 clean sheets, for some reason Anthony Gordon's tally shows 7. But we never show outfield players in that stats table for clean sheets. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 22:17, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
For your last mention, in Fantasy defenders and midfielders get points for clean sheets as well (4 and 1, respectively). As I mentioned, in this game player needs to play 60+ minutes and his team doesn't concede to get a clean sheet (so either is replaced before conciding, or is substituted on after his team concedes) - happens many times, and the same with Pope - in FPL he has 6 clean sheets, on Premier League website - 5. Red Devil (talk) 22:27, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I never knew people get points for clean sheets for midfielders/defenders.
After seeing my second sentence again, I should have said "I think we put a note saying the Premier League website discounts Pope a clean sheet as he did not play 100% of the MU match." Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 22:41, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stadium Names

I changed the Stadium names to their sponsor names (Dean Court to Vitality Stadium, for example). So should they have their original names or sponsor ones? You tell me. 173.56.213.81 (talk) 23:28, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Everton's Point's Deduction

Ok can someone add back Everton's 10 point deduction, I know Everton have appealed it but for the time being the point's deduction still stands, and it is important for casual viewers who may come to Wikipedia to see the current table.
