Alternate take of "Lean on Me"
[edit]Good work creating this album article, DISEman. As you must have noticed a long time ago, I'm a big fan of Shelly Manne. I never did get around to creating an article on this album, though, and I'm glad to see that you have now done it.
There is just one question I would like to raise. As you must have seen, I have added a bonus track to the listing. This was added to the album at least as far back as 1991, on a Japanese CD reissue of the LP, Impulse MVCI-23031 ("Manufactured and distributed by MCA Victor, Inc., Japan.") I have this CD. But my question is not whether "Avalon" is on this CD, as I know it is, and I just listened to it again after many years. It is about the supposed "alternate take" of "Lean on Me". I know that Scott Yanow lists it on AllMusic. But I am wondering if this could be a mistake. On the other hand, I do see one very incomplete item out there for sale on the Web (but apparently unavailable, and with no really reliable information about it), some 2009 reissue that could conceivably have this track. Do you (or anyone else reading this) know anything more about this? Has anyone actually heard this alternate take of "Lean on Me"? --Alan W (talk) 04:27, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
