Same event, 2021 Banda Sea earthquake was the earlier article created by just about half an hour JW 1961 Talk 22:04, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support: However I think we could expand parts of this article into the other without just deleting the page (for instance, the infobox). Sincerely, Dunutubble (talk) 22:12, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As of my time stamp, this is the better of the two article (the other being a 2 line stub) so maybe just take the references from that and add here, with that other article subsequently being made into a redirect? JW 1961 Talk 23:50, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Joseywales1961 - you are right. It looks like it has improved to a good extent. Dunutubble (talk) 01:49, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Support merge. Clear duplication, and the sooner the merge is done, the better -- to avoid duplicated effort. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:53, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

:Support Merge into the article that was created earlier. Timor Leste is not the right name tho. This quake occurred closer to the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia. I assume the creator used Timor Leste because of the USGS event page title M 7.3 - 121 km NNE of Lospalos, Timor Leste.--Dora the Axe-plorer (explore the morgue) 04:47, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Both articles. Not a notable earthquake. --Dora the Axe-plorer (explore the morgue) 06:14, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Just found out the "improvement" was a direct copy of the Tectonic setting section of 1852 Banda Sea earthquake article which I wrote so that does not really count. No further information has been added to either of the pages. --Dora the Axe-plorer (explore the morgue) 06:14, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support merge with lemma "2021 Banda Sea earthquake", as the earthquake was close to Indonesian Maopora island. Two houses crashed on Indonesian Moa island, south of it. On Timor-Leste have been only a few houses minor damaged and a 10 km long earth fissure appeared in Suco Uailaha. Some photos of these minor damages in Timor-Leste are available on Commons. --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 12:57, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

These are the same event. The correct title is with Banda Sea, because the epicentre was near Romang (island) in Indonesia. East Timor was just given as a waypoint in some early reports, but it is in Indonesia in Banda Sea [1]. The article with the correct title, with Banda Sea, was created almost an hour before this needless duplication.Fulmard (talk) 20:18, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also the creator of this article replaced the original name that was already present in lists https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_earthquakes_in_Indonesia&diff=1062696576&oldid=1062654089 https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_earthquakes_in_2021&diff=1062660051&oldid=1062659446 Fulmard (talk) 20:27, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

I do not believe this article is necessary, for all we know it has afflicted much lives to be significant. Moctiwiki (talk) 05:26, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: I meant to say it has not afflicted much lives to be significant.

Moctiwiki (talk) 05:27, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

:As there have been 2 delete comments on this article and 1 on the other article, I propose to bring both to AfD to establish a consensus there JW 1961 Talk 12:15, 30 December 2021 (UTC) beaten to it! JW 1961 Talk 12:16, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Transclusion[edit]

At the very least, acknowledge that the bulk of the article was a direct copy of the Tectonic setting section of 1852 Banda Sea earthquake which I wrote.--Dora the Axe-plorer (explore the morgue) 06:14, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
