Wikipedia does not develop if casual drive-by material is removed

[edit]

@Jmh2o: Re: this revert.

I am disappointed with this revert. I am of course aware that a crime makes an area look bad, but the point of Wikipedia is to make an encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and that means allowing casual, easy development of the article. The Sadia Sheikh murder is significant in Belgian society (the reliable sources make that clear), and only events recorded in reliable sources are eligible for inclusion on Wikipedia (so this counters any arguments that there are centuries of history in Lodelinsart and too many events that happened there - nothing is considerable if it's not recorded!).

I am aware of WP:WEIGHT, that articles should not over-emphasize aspects of itself. The problem is "Yes, and what else in Lodelinsart ?" means that in fact the killing is given its appropriate weight because nobody bothered to add anything else. Nobody else has bothered to add anything to this article in English in the decade or so its existed. (I am aware the article in French has way more content, but that can be translated into English)

The solution is for the other parties to add more. Find more things about it, put more in the article. WhisperToMe (talk) 04:21, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
