Splitting into pages by year?

[edit]

My thought is to split this one huge page into 16 pages, one for each year. Any comment? KConWiki (talk) 02:35, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • OK, seeing no objections, I am going to leave this as a page with the links to the individual pages by year. That will help preserve some of the page history, too. KConWiki (talk) 01:56, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • After further thought - I am going to redirect this page to the main Booknotes article. However, I am also going to copy the contents of this page on to the discussion page for that article, and leave links to both the main page history and this discussion page.
[edit]

Also, the official Booknotes sites has changed the addresses of individual pages. This will need to be fixed here. KConWiki (talk) 02:36, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To-do list

[edit]
  • Do we want links to each interview on this page? -- YES! - DONE
  • Put whole article into approp. categories. - DONE
  • Go through author names in red, link or redirect if needed (i.e. Col. David Hackworth) DONE (First pass)
  • Review each author name in blue for any names leading to someone other than the author (incl. disambig pages) and fix. DONE
  • Check titles with colon, spacing, and capitalization issues (i.e., Clever title:Clever subtitle -- No space after colon) DONE
  • Check for ampersands that should be "and" DONE
  • Standardize width of table columns - (Can't find the formatting to do this. What is it?) - Copying from List of Beverly Hills, 90210 episodes
  • Do we want to add another column w/ links to the subject matter? Example: Empires of Light: Edison, Tesla, Westinghouse, and the Race to Electrify the World -- Link to Thomas Edison, Nicola Tesla, George Westinghouse, History of electromagnetism. - YES
    • Figure out at least one linkable article related to the content of the book.
    • Scan for memoirs/autobiographies and include links shown below.
  • Look at all book titles
    • Scan book titles for likely candidates for books w/ existing Wiki articles and link them. DONE
    • If appropriate, add a link to the pertinent transcript or interview.
    • Example: *[http://www.booknotes.org/Transcript/?ProgramID=1314 ''Booknotes'' interview with Brzezinski on ''The Grand Failure'', April 2, 1989.]
      • [http://www.booknotes.org/Transcript/?ProgramID=XXXX ''Booknotes'' interview with XXX on ''XXX'', MONTH DATE, YEAR.]
        • Doing book articles first - DONE
        • Then, do author articles and/or subject articles
          • Linked interviews to author pages through Shelby Foote, for those authors whose books already have a page (and thus, already had a link made that could be copied and pasted).
    • Redirect those books that do not deserve their own pages to the pages of their authors; However, do not wikilink those book titles on this page. (MAYBE - Low priority)
  • Add deserving wiki pages (or categories)? Example: Stevenson political family
  • Scan author names in red for worthy candidates for article creation. Examples: Annette Gordon-Reed, Haynes Johnson (Somebody beat me to both of these!)
  • Scan book titles for candidates for books that should have Wiki articles and create them. Examples: No Ordinary Time, Gilbert biography of Churchill

Memoirs/Autobiographies

[edit]

For memoirs and autobiographies, I am including the phrase Memoir/Autobiography along with a link to one or two articles that are commonly associated with the author. (Such as The Vietnam War for David Hackworth.)
