Shirley Phelps-Roper (b. October 31, 1957) is the daughter of Fred Phelps, the leader of the Westboro Baptist Church. She received both B.A. and J.D. degrees from Washburn University and currently practices with Phelps Chartered, the Phelps family's law firm [1]. She has received media coverage in Fox News, The Howard Stern Show, The Adam Carolla Show in addition to numerous appearances on podcasts including Nobody Likes Onions, Acorns & Merlot and Political Inversion for her aggressive preaching and controversial campaigns.

Shirley is the wife of Brent D. Roper and a mother of 11 children. Besides her father Fred, she has been the most public spokesperson of the Westboro Baptist Church and answers many of the e-mails sent to the church.

She has received increased media coverage following numerous television appearances (many of which have been on Fox News — one in particular being an interview with Julie Banderas on the Fox News Channel which developed into a full-scale argument). She has appeared on The Tyra Banks Show with two of her daughters, Megan Phelps-Roper and Rebekah Phelps-Roper. Shirley Phelps also frequently appeared on the Adam Carolla Show to debate people such as born-again Christian Stephen Baldwin and Playboy Playmates. She appeared on the Stephen Nolan's Late Show on BBC Radio Five Live on 12 November 2006 along with British journalist Matthew Parris.

Her family was the subject of the show "America's Most Hated Family"; a show presented by Louis Theroux.[2]
