5+ A*-C?[edit]

I have no idea what the text in bold means or how to read it aloud: The UK Government introduced a new performance indicator called the English Baccalaureate, which measures the percentage of students in a school who achieve 5+ A*-C grades (now five Grades 5 to 9 since the GCSE Reforms) in ...

Is that "five plus A star minus C" grades? Does it mean over five A asterisk to C grades? And what's an A asterisk? I request that someone clarify the text for people not familiar with the topic. DBlomgren (talk) 14:28, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
