It has been suggested that Māori identity be merged into Māoriness. It is not immediately obvious to me why this is a good idea and no rationale has been offered. Nor has any rationale been offered for merging Māori identity into Māoriness, rather than merging the other way. At this time, I don't support the suggestion.
