To do

[edit]
  • More than 300,000 Chinese fled Guangzhou for the US sometime between the First Opium War in 1839, the Second Battle of Canton, the Red Turban Rebellion (1854–1856), and a series of clan wars waged by the Punti and Hakka from 1855 to 1867 in which one million people died. Tam’s family was part of this exodus.
  • Proximity to red-light district. Rumors of use as a brothel unsubstantiated except for poor sources. Connection to prohibition. Underground tunnels for steam heating.
  • Clubs, organizations, and businesses in the building. Gambling.
  • Bar and lineup of old-style cocktails
  • Owned by father and son as of 2019 (Chinese Restaurant Foundation)
  • Hum Yow (great uncle of Danny Wong, brother of Tam Lee?)
  • Ranked #2 on list of oldest Chinese restaurants by year. Oldest Chinese restaurant in Montana
