I am a bit perplexed as to how one of the most important Afro-Latin and widely sold large ensemble recordings is low on the importance scale(?) In this genre it is one of the THE known and referenced LPs/CDs when it comes to jazz history books and jazz literature in Afro-Latin music. This is not just among Kenton recordings but all jazz recordings, it is the first time a composer was commissioned to write a very large scale work in this genre; symphonic in scope but with jazz sensabilities.
