[edit]Nov 20, 2017 The Kansas Bar Foundation and the Kansas Bar Association building is now the Robert L. Gernon Law Center.
Family and friends were on hand for the unveiling ceremony this Friday evening.
Justice Gernon was raised Hiawatha, graduated from KU and received his law degree from Washburn University.
Gernon's daughter told 13 NEWS her father believed strongly in mentoring young lawyers.
He served on the Kansas Court of Appeals for 15 years before ascending to the state Supreme Court for two years.
Justice Gernon passed away in 2005.

Correction: The original version of this story misstated Justice Gernon's hometown as Sabetha, instead of Hiawatha. It also incorrectly included incorrect number of years served on the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court. Both facts have been updated and we regret the error.
