Dogs and dog keeper. IN Celtic society the keeper of hounds was very important. Similarly the Irish wolhounds and Viking people have many legends about hounds. Without knowing the breed of dog in the film, the right name for the hound keeper or norse legends it is not possible to show the links that may be in this film between the dog - the end of the world - certainly for Gunnar and his duaghter ending her childhood by becoming a woman. There may also be symbolism of the cave and womanhood. As this is quite involved to show this rather than just make a guess without knowing the writer and director`s knowledge of these things I do not expand in the article. BUT elsewhere sources may develop this. The hound may also represent the father in so many ways, which again is not possible to know without it becoming original research. An example of this is the film Shreck to a Chinese person who knows nothing of European myths and stories they are just interesting characters - but to an English or German person well versed since childhood in Die gebrüder Grimm collections the characters are familiar tropes if not actual copies / conflations of familiar characters. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.190.198.205 (talk) 11:01, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
