Italics

[edit]

I can only see Greger through Google snippets. In the one case I can see (p. 58) he does not italicise "250t" (which seems like an odd thing to italicise). Does he italicise it elsewhere? Srnec (talk) 13:34, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

this is a MOS issue, is it not? Greger calls is a class, so we treat it as one under the MOS? Cheers, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 16:58, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake. Apparently, thematical classes ie "Town-class" are not italicised. My apologies for the revert. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 17:05, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request for a quick look at images before FAC

[edit]

Hi, Nikkimaria. This is destined to go in the FAC queue shortly, would you mind having a look at the images (there aren't that many) to give me a heads-up on any you don't think are ok licensing-wise? Thanks in advance. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 06:01, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We'd need a publication date for all of the Austrian photos, unfortunately - they're fine in Austria but the US tag in use requires pre-1978 publication. Nikkimaria (talk) 14:02, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Nikkimaria, from Wayback Machine, it appears they were first published on the Austrian website on 27 August 2002, (and I can find no publication on any US websites within 30 days). So, if they were first published outside the US post-1978 but without a copyright notice (there isn't one on the website), and they were PD-Austria on the URAA date, doesn't that make them PD-URAA? Unfortunately, I don't think so - see chart here. Nikkimaria (talk) 04:30, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Letter after boat number?

[edit]

The letter after the boat number is not the t in 250t huh? Maybe you could put an example. Also it might be nice if "boat number" was a blue link. Siuenti (씨유엔티) 09:01, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea what you are saying. Sorry. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 09:40, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sinking of sub off Mangalia

[edit]

There has been an edit by Brown Water Admiral adding information about the sinking of a sub off Mangalia by one of the Romanian boats, but no citation has been provided. Could someone please add a citation for that? Thanks, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:29, 21 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Peacemaker67 There are four sources in the Wikilink which I provided, leading to the article of the action, so I figured it wasn't necessary to copy them in, but I did copy them now. Also, how come than in this featured article, about torpedo boats, I could find nothing about how the two twin torpedo tubes are placed? Centerline or broadside? Yes, this matters. Brown Water Admiral (talk) 21:30, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We can't use WP as a source for anything, per WP:CIRCULAR. We have to use the original reliable secondary source the information is contained in, not rely on a wikilink to an article where they are used. As far as the location of the torpedo tubes goes, if you have a reliable secondary source for their location, please add it. None of the sources used in this article (which are all that I could find on the class), state where the torpedo tubes were mounted. All I am trying to do is maintain the standard of this article as Featured, it is as comprehensive as the current sources allow. Information added without properly formatted footnoting to a reliable secondary source erodes the Featured status of the article. Repeated unfootnoted inclusions of this type can result in an article being subject to declassification from Featured. Thanks, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 00:34, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
