She is the founder of Moni Moni, an Italian fashion brand worn by several celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Halle Berry, and Jessica Alba.[1] Her handbags have been featured in popular TV shows such as Sex and the City and Gossip Girl, as well as in magazines like Vogue, Vanity Fair, Allure, and Glamour.[2][3][4][5]

Moniaci is known as the lead singer in two bands, Bionica and The Perfect Nines. Her popular songs include "If She Knew What She Wants," which reached number 12 on the Music Week Commercial Pop Chart in 2020. Her music has also been featured on the soundtrack for Dawson's Creek.[6]

Early life and education

Moniaci was born and raised in Turin, Italy. In 1997, she moved from Italy to Los Angeles, United States, where she started her rock and roll band.[6][7]

Moniaci holds a PhD in communications and has studied literature and philosophy at the University of Turin, Italy. She received a scholarship and studied at the University of Lyon, France, and Sorbonne Paris. She also holds a master's degree in business from UCSD.[8]

Career

After moving to Los Angeles from Italy in the late 90s, Moniaci started her career as a music and fashion journalist, corresponding for Italian and French magazines like GQ and Rockstar. She also worked for In Style Magazine in Los Angeles, doing celebrity red-carpet interviews. During that time, she also started her alternative rock band, BIONICA, as the lead singer and songwriter, with her husband, Rico Quevedo.[9][10]

In 2004, she founded Moni Moni, an Italian fashion brand that features high-end handbags and accessories. Her designs have been worn by several celebrities and featured in popular TV shows and magazines.[7][11][12]

With celebrity clients and international distribution, Moniaci expanded her design career to the interior design world, founding Dream Light Designs. She designed homes and interiors in luxury homes by the beach in Southern California. She and her husband also started investing in properties in Hawaii and now own Koolkondo.com, a luxury Airbnb collection of over 25 properties with hundreds of positive reviews.[4][8][11]

Moniaci also started roadhousetravel.com, a company designing luxury travel vans for adventurers. Several social media influencers have featured roadhousetravel.com, and it was also featured on Good Morning Sacramento.

In the early 2000s, she was a lead singer in two bands, Bionica and The Perfect Nines. Bionica produced songs for hit TV shows such as Dawson's Creek, Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, CSI: Miami, and CSI: NY. Her other band, The Perfect Nines, released two projects and performed regularly at L.A. hotspots such as The Viper Room, Hotel Café, and Saint Rocke in Manhattan Beach. Later, Moniaci secured a licensing deal to make eyewear products, which she launched in the fall of 2018.[2][13]

In 2009, she started her band, The Perfect Nines, and performed at various popular L.A. venues such as The Key Club, The Viper Room, The Roxy, Hotel Café, and Saint Rocke in The South Bay. She has collaborated with many well known producers like Ross Robinson (Korn, Limp Bisqit), John Avila (Oingo Bongo), Jim Wirt (Incubus, No Doubt, Hoobastank).[7][11]

She later began her solo project, collaborating with Warren Huart (The Fray) on the Moon Wild album. In 2020, she released two songs with producer Taylor Sparks of Revolver Records now distributed by Sony Music. Moniaci's cover of The Bangles' If She Knew What She Wants became a hit, ranking at number 12 on the Music Week Commercial Pop Charts in England that same year. She is currently working on releasing two new EPs from her collaborations with two producers from LA's Revolver Records and with Soulcraft producer David Samuel.[6]
