Founded in 2021 by Gary and Fraser Stewart, the company operates in the financial technology (FinTech) sector, specifically within the software as a service (SaaS) model, providing software for wealth management professionals and individual consumers.[1][2]

History

Lyfeguard was founded in 2021 by Gary Stewart and Fraser Stewart. Gary Stewart came up with the idea in response to the challenges he faced while managing and transferring personal and financial information during an estate settlement process.[3][4]

In July 2022, the business raised £260,000 in a pre-Seed financing round.

Lyfeguard launched its public services in February 2023, following which it formed partnerships with several service providers, including Farewill (will writing), Hometree (home cover), and ManyPets (pet insurance).[5][6][7]

In October 2023, Lyfeguard partnered with Moneyhub to integrate open banking technology, allowing users to connect their financial accounts.[8] In the same month, Lyfeguard received regulatory approval from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as an agent of Moneyhub.[9]

In February 2024, Lyfeguard was featured on the Sky TV program "Venture Visionaries."[10]

Wealth Management and Financial Advice

This service is targeted towards financial advisers and includes customer relationship management (CRM) tools, a cloud-based client portal, portfolio management tools, financial data integration, reporting, and collaboration functionalities.[11]

In February 2024, Lyfeguard partnered with Adviser Services Holdings Limited (ASHL), the parent company of the Sense Network, Lyncombe Consultants, and Rockhold Asset Management.[12]

Lyfeguard offers a cloud-based subscription service for individual users. This service provides data storage, financial account connections, and information sharing functionalities. They employ a freemium model for this service with a free tier (Lyfeguard Basic) and a paid tier (Lyfeguard Pro).

Lyfeguard is led by two co-founders:

  • Gary Stewart serves as the company's Chief Executive Officer. Before founding Lyfeguard, Stewart led Xceed Consultancy Group, overseeing its growth prior to its acquisition by Wavestone, a French consultancy firm, in 2018.[13]
  • Fraser Stewart holds the position of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). He has a Bachelor of Arts in History & Politics from the University of Exeter and a Master of Business Administration from Alliance Manchester Business School. Fraser Stewart is an industry speaker on fintech and a contributor to industry publications. In March 2023, he was featured in a Daily Express article alongside financial expert Martin Lewis, discussing the importance of independent financial advice for retirement planning.[14][15][16]
