why did you delete that pic from that page?? I would like to know why you have deleted the Ca$his page?

Little Help

Let me know if I correctly upload the file for candy manson's page. also do I have to put the tag, because a text box shows up beneith her picture. also if I did it wrong, can you help me fix it. I have permission ot use the image, but I don't know how to do it the right way, or what code to use when editting the page, thanks. mjh 01:27, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Birds from South Africa

Ah... I see you have done a sandbox (User:Jimfbleak/South Africa to do list) on a list of birds from South Africa. Well I do intend to make a list of birds from Southern Africa, I was wondering if it would be in conflict with what you have done so far. Luffy487 11:14, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Currently I have two books: Illustrated guide to the Birds of Southern Africa, Ian Sinclair, Phil Hockey and Warwick Tarboton 1993 and Southern African Birds A Photographic Guide, Ian Sinclair and Ian Davidson 1995. Well... there are a total of more than 300 pages in each book, I think I may need sometime to compile the information. Currently, the list is located at here: User:Luffy487/sandbox/List of Southern African Birds. Luffy487 04:14, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I am in the mid way of compiling the list. By the way I have a book called Munias and Mannikins by Robin Restall, ISBN 1-873403-51-8. It is a very detailed book with lots of illustration and explanation. I thought you may like it. ;) Luffy487 06:45, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll assume for the time being that your edit to Canada goose was in good faith. You need to read the Canada v. Canadian section of the talk page. jimfbleak 06:50, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

what is a "talk" page? is this a "talk" page? how did you send me a message, but I can't reply? yes, I was correcting the misspelling in good faith you need to wise-up to what the retarded animal is really called

Please refrain from making changes to the name of Canada Goose - it's beginning not to look like good faith editing now. 21:06, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

what the f are you talking about ... I don't think I saved any changes yesterday to the page. Are you talking about the back-woods POS "discussion" page that absolutely nobody sees?

Hi, about the bird taxobox, I was restoring it to its cleaner state (before there were multiple unranked classes) and noticed its been reverted. I'm wondering why you reverted my edits. M&NCenarius 21:20, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Taxonomy on Francolin.

Hi Jimfbleak. Recently I have discovered that the species Francolin has been renamed to Spurfowl and Francolinus into Pternistis. I was wondering if this taxonomy is true? Luffy487 13:55, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yup. Thus I was wondering whether my list of southern african bird (User:Luffy487/sandbox/List_of_Southern_African_Birds#Francolins) is up to date or wrongly referred. And one more thing the binomial name Serinus mozambicus has been change to Crithagra mozambicus, I wonder if this info is true.
If this is true, then the genus: Serinus will be rename to genus: Crithagra. Luffy487 15:08, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Green Peafowl

The guy who posted all that info on the Green Peafowl page is Kermit! Frankyboy5 20:16, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have no concerns about his edit, but it is unsourced. I trust this guy, but we may have to wait until his Encyclopedia about Galliformes comes out and totally revises the taxonomy. Pinudjem is his second part of his middle name (Amoun-Pinudjem) of his alternate name (Milad Sourial). If you search for that name on the web you can see that he is making a movie called "Goddess of the Sun", not only from the photo gallery concerning the Green Peafowl but also from a site not by him.

Kermit does not have a real name. His real parents gave him a name he didn't like. Sadly, his real parents died in a political assacination. He was then named Kermit Roosevelt by his adoptive parents, but he didn't like that either. He has three user accounts: User:Amoun-Pinudjem (middle name), User:Milad A.P. Sourial, and his newest is User:Pinudjem. However, he has also edited with an IP once, which was reverted. He often writes under Kermit Blackwood and was also quoted in the Red Data Book as K. B. Woods (who suggested that Greens are monogamous and possible Yunnan subspecies).

He is a writer on the Feathersite, a site that talks about poultry, wild ducks and gamebirds, etc.

One must know that Kermit is not sure that the Green Peafowl is a superspecies complex, but that he created that hypothesis, and that he believes the best way to know the truth is to try and disprove it. However, preliminary data confirms his hypothesis of multiple species. He has already collected tissue samples and compared them but he believes it is better if nuclear DNA can also be extracted from samples.

Wolfgang Mennig, a breeder who suggests that there are additional subspecies (not species), also confirms (he e-mailed me) that he is friends with Kermit and that they try to work together as much as possible. Frankyboy5 07:00, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What was the reason for removing the section about habitat threats in SF? You didn't indicate and it is factual. Mark 2000 22:15, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not a hoax, as far as I can tell. Edit conflict left it with a somewhat misleading summary, but no harm done I suppose. If you have some evidence that it's all an elaborate setup, go ahead and respeedy it. Shimeru 07:41, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mean to push into your yet-to-be conversation, but I can see several things against you:
  • You have been a contributing editor since January 5 of this year, with the bulk of your edits on or after March 21. That's five days ago.
  • You don't seem to even be warning any of the vandals you are reverting.
  • You don't seem to have a good grasp of Wiki formatting or processes.
  • Most editors who become admins are nominated by other people after months of hard work, and thousands of productive edits.
  • If you do not show a specific need for the admin tools, you will most likely not receive them.
Just my two cents, hopefully saving Jim some time and effort. -- KirinX 10:14, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re: speed deletion: march 26 Wikidpedia 13:54, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

after reading all of the other user comments on your user talk page, i've realized i'm not the only one to take offense at your heavy handed censoring methods. in an effort to quickly become a wikipedia admin, it seems you are simply deleting any article you don't have any personal knowledge about and deciding it has no value for a wider audience.
this is not how wikipedia works.
my article, in particular, was meant to be a collaborative project within a community, however you quickly nipped that idea in the bud with a 'speedy delete' which prevented any additional information from being added by other members. furthermore, like the rest of the speedy deletion 'victims', you provided no warning or suggestions.
you are not god.
you are not smarter than everyone else.
maybe, sometimes, there is worthwhile information to know that you, personally, have no understanding of.
i, personally, will be watching YOU and YOUR PAGE from now until the forseeable future to flag any of your future speedy deletions. maybe i will not be the only one.
i would offer you congratulations on joining wikipedia, but you are one self-important, ladder-climbing, attention-seeking member the community would do well without.

I didn't delete any article at 13.54 26 March. I've checked the deletion log jimfbleak 14:13, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Imperial units

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll put them back in. The US measurements were in the article twice, once as "108 inches" and later as "110 inches". Since the IP who originally requested the US measures be added was possibly doing so in his capacity as some sort of trolling vandal [2] anyway, I figured I'd remove them all together.

It's kinda sad that it's a recurring problem though... I'm sorry. You'd think since we've been to the frickin' moon we could figure out SI :D --Haikon 14:44, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed on the binomial name of Greater Flamingo

Hi Jimfbleak. I was wondering what is the latest binomial name of Greater Flamingo? According to my source, it says it is Phoenicopterus ruber but from the article it is Phoenicopterus roseus. So i was wondering perhaps you can help me to check on this? Thanks. Luffy487 15:20, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh I see. So I should write both species (Caribbean Flamingo rather and Greater Flamingo) in my southern african birds list. Ok thanks. Luffy487 16:13, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dappad (regarding the deletion)

Hi Jim, I was in the middle of editing the wikipage for “Dappad”. When I found it had been deleted by you.. www.dappad.com is my own project which firstly launched in last November.

Following is the full description of Dappad

Dappad is a FREE online notebook service. It keeps both your public and private notes in the same place, which you can access from anywhere. It has a convenient WYSIWYG editor for writing notes (like Office Word). You can copy and paste content from web pages, Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. Your notes are organized in folders, and can be tagged for quick browsing.

And regarding the two reasons of deletion:

1. Q: “notability not shown” A: Please visiting this url http://www.dappad.com/write or clicking “log in demo user” button on the front page

2. Q: “and the only contributor was 'Yi'” A: Yes, I am so far the only developer of this project. Please read http://www.dappad.com/read/127

Please let me know if it is OK for me to recreate this entry.

Many thanks, Yi

OK, I posted this further up the page then noticed it said do it at the bottom of the page so... Yeah, I don't know if you'll even get this message. Or who I'm actually talking to. But someone deleted my Bendomino page within an hour of posting with no explanation beyond it wasn't notable or referenced. I was actually on my way back to it to add references when I discovered it was deleted. How do I argue for notability? And to whom? Request for Unprotection of Tellapadu

Hi there! I created an article on Tellapadu on the 10th of Jan. '07. There was a problem with the content (insufficient information), following which the page was deleted and subsequently, restored. However, I unknowingly tried removing some tags which were placed, as a part of my efforts to revise the article i.e to weed out any unwanted information/parts and add more facts. Due to this, there occured some misunderstanding, for which, I agree, I'm solely to be blamed and the article Tellapadu was redirected to Doddavaram. Doddavaram is a neighbouring village and bears very little relationship, if any to Tellapadu. So I request Tellapadu to be restored to its former status (unprotected and the redirection undone), upon which I assure that all necessary changes and additions would be made by me, in full conformity to Wikipedia's standards, including several new facts, which have come to light as a result of my research on the subject in question. If you are still unsatisfied you may proceed in the course, as you deem necessary, as an administrator. Thanking You, Altruism 07:15, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your wishes. Also, I'd seen your signature in some pages and liked it. Is it all right if I can use the same style? Where can I get different font styles for the same? Thanking you, Altruism.talk. 05:18, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete Billy Moses?

You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. I deleted because it was an article about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or website that did not assert the importance or significance of the subject. (CSD A7). You need to provide independent verifiable sources that it meets the notability guidelines. Jimfbleak.talk.09:06, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jim:

I'm a bit confused about the notability criteria and your deletion of the page I was editing. Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Law_firm_stubs for the list of law firms which are covered in wikipedia. A large number of these are as notable as the firm I covered. There are a large number of Indian firms that should necessary be covered here because of several reasons. IndoJuris is one of several young firms that have made a strong debut in the Indian legal market and would certainly be representative of the newer crop of firms providing transactional assistance in India. The page you deleted was work-in-progress. Please do let me know if there is additional information I need to provide to ensure the page is not deleted.

Incorrect in Pyrrhuloxia?

You edited commenting: "remove US centric and incorrect, replace with cardinal family)"

I fail to see why this article was "US centric." It includes Mexico in the range, and the Vermilion Cardinal, which you edited out, is not found in the U.S. Please explain.

I believe the article was correct. All three birds are members of the same genus (Cardinalis) and well as the same family (Cardinalidae).

Accordingly, I reverted your edit. If you disagree, please advise. Jeff dean 15:01, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mea culpa

My double mistake - with the genus, I managed to misread the cardinal family list, and I shot from the hip with the US bit, since I get fed up with cardinal being taken as synonymous with Northern Cardinal, but didn't research Vermillion - although I realised this morning when referencing the cardinal family article that I was in error. Apologies again, and I'll trying adding water to whatever I'd been drinking. jimfbleak 15:39, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Man Called Adam

Your deletion of the A Man Called Adam article was ridiculous. It should have been obvious that it was a work in progress and I was still adding to it. (I actually broke off from editing it to deal with a noisy fan in my computer, hardly expecting that the article would be deleted when I got back.) Two things particularly stick in the craw - first, that you appear to have given it very little time (5 minutes? 10 minutes?) before deciding it wasn't going anywhere, and secondly that you seem to have automatically assumed bad faith on my part. As it happens, A Man Called Adam have actually been a very influential group in the development of chill out music. But you couldn't wait a couple of hours for someone to add external references (and for crying out loud, I did label it as a stub). It's this sort of trigger-happy deletionist behaviour that makes me wonder whether it's even worth trying to contribute to Wikipedia. --Multivitamin 09:44, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
