Your GA nomination of IBM and unions

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article IBM and unions you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. FYI, I will be a bit unavailable for a few days but still plan to finish this within 7 days. Mokadoshi (talk) 05:32, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Mokadoshi is that still the plan? I am sincerely unsure if it was a wise idea to open 4 GAs simultaneously when you know you won't be able to edit much this week. In any case, I am around/available. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 01:13, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Shushugah I don’t have 4 GAs open so I’m not sure what you’re referring to. Maybe you have me confused with someone else? In any case, I only planned to be away for 2 days but something came up that I didn’t expect. I can try to get this completed in less than 24 hours from now. Unless you have a different preference? Like for example if you have someone else that’s ready to review instead of me then I’m happy to allow them to do so. Let me know what works for you. Question from Jidon34 (12:49, 16 March 2024)

Hello, I have 204 edits or contributions on Wikipedia, but still I'm unable to edit some semi protected Article. What is the reason ? --Jidon34 (talk) 12:49, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because your account isn't 4 days old. You can check your autoconfirm status here. galenIgh 23:38, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of IBM and unions

The article IBM and unions you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:IBM and unions and Talk:IBM and unions/GA2 for issues which need to be addressed. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Mokadoshi -- Mokadoshi (talk) 21:24, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Shushugah I am happy to keep this nomination open until Friday, but I think I'll have to fail it at that point since it is hard for me to remember everything from the article after that long. Looking forward to hearing from you, Mokadoshi (talk) 04:48, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from MikeEviscerate on Elementary arithmetic (16:36, 7 April 2024)

First few questions for my mentor.

Is it okay to omit parts of an article that are related, but happen to irrelevant from my viewpoint?

This article (Elementary arithmetic) mentions the Telefol language for the "Digits" section, which is an elaboration of how different languages use different bases. However, I've assumed it's irrelevant. Because no digits, nor written numerical systems are described, only that Telefol uses a different base.

Additionally, what about poorly described parts? Parts which are true, but are so badly ill-cited and described that I think it's better to be removed. Or, should I leave it in and wait for someone else? I am talking about the "computers are known for using binary" --MikeEviscerate (talk) 16:36, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Gojko13 (15:05, 19 April 2024)

hello, my page is still named user:Gojko13/sandbox. how do I change the name into Srđan Škulić? --Gojko13 (talk) 15:05, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, unfortunately I've had to fail your GA nomination of IBM and unions due to not responding to suggestions in a timely manner. According to the GA instructions, it is customary for an article to be put on hold for 7 days to address feedback. Your nomination has been on hold for five weeks and still there are outstanding issues. In these last few weeks, I have pinged you multiple times on your Talk page and on the nomination page. I explained to you why this is important: that if too much time passes between iterations, I have to re-read all the sources and the article to verify changes, which effectively means I have to do the review multiple times. I am sorry if you had off-wiki circumstances that prevented you from responding, but since you are still editing elsewhere on the site, I have to believe you could have let me know and we could have worked it out. Additionally, I don't appreciate that you criticized how long it took me to complete the review (about 7 days) but it's been more than twice that since your last reply. So, you are welcome to renominate the article when you do have the time to appropriately address feedback, and I hope the work that has already been done so far is helpful to you and the future reviewer. Thanks, Mokadoshi (talk) 06:24, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Mokadoshi thank you for your feedback, and also generosity in reviewing it, and I apologise I didn't reciprocate ideally in my behaviour. The article has improved since with your review, and while (due to my own failing) hasn't reached GA status, it is in a better state now, which I consider to be a positive step forward. Thank you! ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 10:20, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of IBM and unions

The article IBM and unions you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:IBM and unions for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. He has a background from a former Gang member to a contractual counterintelligence personnel. His story is beyond amazing. @Reminisce044863 Welcome! Creating a new article from scratch is extremely challenging, and new editors are strongly recommended to spend a few months learning how Wikipedia works, by making improvements to some of our existing seven million articles before trying it. When you do decide to have a go at a new article, you are highly encouraged to read WP:Your first article. If you haven't already also check out WP:TUTORIAL; it's a lot of fun! Question from Full Court Zone Press on Elvin Hayes (05:22, 19 May 2024)

The page incorrectly mentioned UCLA used a triangle-and-two defense in the national semifinal against Houston. Actually, it was a diamond-and-one. John Wooden wrote, “(Lynn Shackelford was) assigned to Hayes as the chaser in the diamon and one. His sole assignment was Hayes” (“They Call Me Coach,” p. 155). There is much more said about the defense, which was quite fascinating, but this correctly states the defense. --Full Court Zone Press (talk) 05:22, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Full Court Zone Press welcome to Wikipedia! I am not so familiar with basketball, but this sounds like an improvement to the article. Why not be WP:BOLD and make the edit yourself? If you don't know how to, check out the WP:TUTORIAL, it's a lot of fun! I attached some helpful links on your talk page User talk:Full Court Zone Press. Template:Diplomatic missions of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the entry on the Templates for discussion page. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:54, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Third reason in WP:TFD#REASONS says to delete when a template has no likelihood of being used. Three years is not a long time; similar templates have been populated over time. Many of the structured templates I created in Category:Diplomatic missions by receiving country started off as bare-bone/transclusionless and now have increased usage. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 19:44, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nomination of AppleToo

It looks like someone tried to nominate an article you created for DYK (Talk:AppleToo), but failed to create the required template. 2600:4808:3851:D600:F951:2DB:7B64:AF34 (talk) 17:27, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I stumbled upon this during my first DYK nomination for Benjamin Feigenbaum and didn't understand the feedback back then...so I created {{Did you know nominations/AppleToo}} for the IP user who is credited with expanding the article from a redirect (that I technically created). ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 10:02, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
