Kalpana Soren (born 15 May 1976)[1] is an Indian politician from Jharkhand since June 2024. She has won as MLA from Gandey constituency bypoll which was held in 2024. Kalpana Soren is wife of Jharkhand former Chief Minister Hemant Soren.[2] [3] [4]

Political Journey

Kalpana Murmu Soren, an engineer with an MBA, has been thrust into the political arena following her husband Hemant Soren's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31. Since Hemant Soren’s arrest, she has steered the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha through the crucial Lok Sabha elections with a steady hand and galvanising speeches. Armed with an MBA degree, Ms. Soren, a mother of two children, has gone all out on the campaign trail as the reputation and prestige of the Soren family is at stake in the byelection. She is up against Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Dilip Kumar Varma and its alliance partner All Jharkhand Students Union is also canvassing support for the BJP candidate. [5] [6]

Santal Entrepreneur

Ms Kalpana is the leading Santal tribal women Entrepreneur and businesswomen who did Post Graduate MBA from Symbiosis Centre from Distance Learning Pune in 2012, B.Tech from Koustuv Institute of Self-domain (Biju Patnaik University of Technology Odisha) in 2006. She is President in Sona Sobharam Memorial Society, and Director in Sohrai Livestock Pvt Ltd & Others. [7] [8]
