Yossi Erblich (born in 1977) is a founder and chairman of the "LeMa'anchem" nonprofit organization, which specializes in medical consulting.

Biography

Erblich was born in Antwerp, Belgium, to businessman Shimon Erblich. In his youth, he immigrated to Israel and lived in Tel Aviv. He studied at Beit HaTalmud [he] and Ponevezh Yeshivos.

In 1996, he began his activities in the medical field after encountering issues with the medical treatment provided to his uncle, Rabbi Aharon Rosenfeld, the Rebbe of Pinsk-Karlin.

Erblich has connections in both general and ultra-Orthodox politics and is considered close to the late leader of the Lithuanian ultra-Orthodox community, Rabbi Steinman, and the leaders who succeeded him. In 2008, his name was proposed as a candidate for the mayor of El'ad on behalf of the United Torah Judaism party.

In 2017, he founded the "LeMa'anchem" organization. Despite not having formal medical education, he offers medical knowledge gained from his experience and connections with doctors in Israel and abroad. Through his connections, he mediated between donors and medical centers in Israel to assist in acquiring medical equipment.

In 2018, he established a medical consultants course. Subsequently, he founded the "Doctors for the Community" initiative to expand cooperation between consultants and doctors.

In October 2019, following the controversy surrounding the fundraising event for the Ezra Lemarpeh nonprofit organization by consultant Rabbi Elimelech Firer, Erblich published a letter supporting Rabbi Firer's actions.

"LeMa'anhem" Nonprofit Organization

In 2017, Erblich founded the "LeMa'anChem" organization that provides medical consulting. The organization receives hundreds of inquiries daily on various medical topics.

The main goal of the organization is to provide medical assistance and diagnosis: simplifying the bureaucracy of the public healthcare system, offering second opinions, or providing more comprehensive diagnoses at no cost to patients who believe they have not been properly diagnosed by their treating physicians.

Among the active doctors in the organization are:

  • Professor Beni Davidson, the head of the medical department of the organization and former director of the Emergency Division at the Ministry of Health, who serves as the head of the organization's medical team.
  • Professor Mordechai Weiss, a specialist in internal medicine, who serves as a senior consultant in the organization.
  • Dr. Gadi Neumann, the vice president of the organization and deputy director of Beilinson Hospital.
  • Additionally, volunteers include Professor Yosef Peres, the director of Schneider Children's Medical Center (serving as the organization's president), Dr. Aviram Nissan, the head of the General Surgery and Oncology Department at Sheba Medical Center, and others.

As part of the "Doctors in Reserve" initiative, about 200 doctors from around the world are active in providing advice and assistance on various medical questions. In 2023, there were over 20,000 inquiries to the organization.

In addition to medical consulting by a network of volunteer doctors, the association also trains "medical consultants."

To make medical information accessible, Erblich and the organization's doctors publish dozens of columns and articles annually in the print and online media.

Notable Activities of the Organization

In 2021, during the COVID-19, the organization launched an information campaign for the ultra-Orthodox community and encouraged the public to get vaccinated. Erblich received a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Health for these efforts.

In February 2021, together with Asher Zureyvin, Erblich established the LeMa’anChem Children's Rehabilitation Center in Bnei Brak.

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the organization set up an assistance center for patients arriving in Israel.

In early 2023, Erblich met with Sheikh Muwafaq Tarif, the head of the Druze community in Israel. They discussed the involvement of Druze doctors and interns volunteering for LeMa’anchem and the organization's support for patients in Arab countries without diplomatic ties to Israel.

In December 2022, Erblich organized an innovation evening on various medical topics at Tel Aviv University. Researchers such as Ronit Satchi-Fainaro, Lina Basel-Salmon, Yair Bar, and Ran Balicer participated. Topics discussed included the prevention of genetic diseases, cyberattacks on hospitals, and the creation of human cancer models using 3D modeling technology.

Since October 7, 2023, the organization has been operating in emergency mode. Employees and volunteers were deployed in hospitals to provide emotional support and consultation to patients. The phone center was reinforced, a mental health hotline was established, and the organization led a volunteer project in hospitals to assist with light tasks due to the shortage of doctors who were mobilized to the front lines.

In December 2023, Erblich organized an appreciation evening for soldiers at the Loewenstein Rehabilitation Center. During the event, he announced the establishment of a department within LeMa’anchem dedicated to providing medical assistance to IDF wounded soldiers and their families.

In March 2024, the organization held a committee on medical innovation at the Weizmann Institute of Science. The event was attended by hundreds of doctors and technology experts who discussed advancements in AI in healthcare. Yael Bar Zohar, a volunteer with the organization, hosted the evening. Notable speakers and participants included Yossi Matias, CEO of Google Israel; Professor Amnon Shashua; Professor Ran Balicer, Chief Innovation Officer at Clalit; Professor Eran Segal; Alon Chen, President of the Weizmann Institute, and others. During the conference, a ceremony was held to honor medical teams for their work during Operation Iron Swords.
