- Mistress of a Married Man is a Senegalese Television series (2019-present) by screenwriter Kalista Sy set in Dakar that caused a sensation and was controversial upon its release. The show focused on the lives of everyday women and storylines around sex, infidelity, domestic abuse, and polygamy, which are not usually covered in Senegalese media.

Andrew Kaggia is a Kenyan animator and the director of TeraStorm, a computer-animated science fiction film (2022) that was selected as Kenya's entry for Best International Film for the 95th Academy Awards, making it the first African animated film to be selected to compete for this award. It is also the first original African-scripted animated feature with African characters and context to be nominated for an Oscar.

- Rafiki Fariala is a Congolese-born director and musician whose freshman feature, the documentary We, Students! was the first feature from the Central African Republic to be screened at the Berlin International Film Festival. His follow up film, Congo Boy, is a drama inspired by his own story as a refugee in CAR. Drawing upon his story, “Congo Boy” tells the story of a teenage refugee from the Congo with musical ambitions, who is made responsible for his younger siblings in their new CAR home. Establishing himself first as a musician, Fariala’s documentary “We, Students!” was the first film from CAR to go to the Berlinale and its Panorama sidebar, screening this year
- Frankie Ogar is a Nigerian film director who won Film Director of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards in 2016 for A Soldier's Story.
- Roye Okupe is a Nigerian filmmaker, graphic novelist and founder of YouNeek Studios. He is the creator of Iyanu: Child of Wonder, which received a greenlight by HBO Max and Cartoon Network for adaptation into a 2D animated series. In 2019 his animated pilot of Malika: Warrior Queen with Nollywood stars Adesua Etomi and Deyemi Okanlawon as voice actors was released.
- James Omokwe is a Nigerian Director. His film Riona got nominated for Best Africa Magic Original Drama Series at the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards
- Peter Murimi is a Kenyan director, best known for I am Samuel , a documentary depicting the love story and challenges of a gay couple. The film was banned by the Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB).
- Mandla Dube is a South African director best known for Silverton Siege (2022) and Kalushi: The Story of Solomon Mahlangu (2016). In 2022 Dube signed a creative partnership with Netflix.
- Ellie Foumbi is a Cameroonian-American director, writer, and actor. Her 2022 directorial debut “Our Father, Our Devil” (“Mon père, le diable”), follows an African refugee living in the south of France who is suddenly reunited with the warlord-turned-priest who murdered her family. The thriller premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
- Asurf Oluseyi, Nigerian director who was nominated as Best Picture Editor at 2018 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards for his work on 2017 film Hakkunde. He directed 2016 Nigerian romantic comedy film, Elephant in the Room and 2019 Nigerian romantic comedy film, Kasanova. He was the cinematographer and editor for 2016 Nigerian heist film Just Not Married
- Desmond Ovbiagele, Nigerian director of Render to Caesar and 2020 drama film Milk Maid which was submitted for the 93rd Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film and won Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Film. He was nominated for best director at the 2014 Nollywood Movies Awards and Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Director in 2020.
- Dimeji Ajibola, Nigerian director of science fiction dystopian-action film Ratnik and TV series Wura, Slum King, and Shanty Town. He was also nominated for four categories at Nollywood Movies Awards in 2017 as well as Best Director at the 2020 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards

- Melissa O. Odeyemo is an-American Nigerian film producer and founder of Ominira Studios. Her first feature, Eyimofe (2020) premiered at the Berlinale Film Festival, where it was nominated for the GWFF Best First Feature Film Award. Her next feature was the documentary Dusty & Stone (2022) about a country music duo of the same name from Eswatini determined to win big at a local battle of the bands in Texas.
