O'Keefe/O'Keeffe is an Irish surname, from the (Irish:O'Caoimh/Caomh), meaning 'tender, beautiful, gentle, kind, handsome'. It has links to Irish Royalty, with the family descended from Art Caemh who was the son of Finguine.

O'Keefe/O'Keeffe is related to a number of Irish surnames, the first being "O'Caomhain" meaning "son of Kevin", more commonly anglicized as Kavanagh, Keaveney, and McKinnon, derived from Mac Fhionghuin (fionn) 'fair-born'. The other connection are Kennan and Gannon, both deriving from Mag Fhionnain (fionn) 'white'.
