P. Sudarshan Reddy

Podduturi Sudarshan Reddy (born 1949) is an Indian politician from Telangana state. He is an MLA from Bodhan Assembly constituency in Nizamabad district. He represents Indian National Congress Party and won the 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly election.[1][2]

Early life and education

Reddy is from Siranpally village in Navipet mandal, Nizamabad district. He was born to late Ganga Reddy and Rukmamma.[3] He passed Class 12 and later discontinued studies while doing his second year B.A. According to the self affidavit he filed with the Election Commission of India, his income increased from Rs.44 crores in 2018 to over Rs.109 crores in 2023.[4][5]

Career

Reddy won from Bodhan Assembly constituency representing Indian National Congress in the 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly election. He polled votes and defeated his nearest rival, Mohammed Shakil Aamir of Bharat Rashtra Samithi by a narrow margin of 3, 062 votes.[6][7] Earlier, he first became an MLA in 1999 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election defeating K. Ramakanth of TDP by 9,289 votes. He retained it in the 2004 election by defeating Abdul Khader of Telugu Desam Party by a margin of 16,99 votes. He won again for the third time in the 2009 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election. However, he lost the 2014 and 2018 Assembly elections.[6][8]

He was the Irrigation Minister in the Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy ministry.[9]
