Dan Boeckner is a Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist for the indie rock bands Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs.

Boeckner grew up in Lake Cowichan, British Columbia, Canada, and later moved to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, after graduating high school where he was involved in several small bands. In 2000 he recorded Rapture, Ye Minions! with his notable British Columbian band Atlas Strategic. The album was released on a local label, Global Symphonic. The band toured and recorded a second album, which was never officially released. After the band broke up Boeckner moved to Montreal, Canada.

Atlas Strategic was an indie rock band from Victoria, British Columbia. The band broke up in 2002. It was made of Dan Boeckner who played guitar and sang, Johnny Pollard aka Atlas Strategic, who played the organ, synths, saxaphone, and sang backing vocals, Steve Simard who played the drums, and Brooklyn Cannon who played guitar and sang backing vocals.

Wolf Parade is an indie rock band from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, now based in Montreal, Quebec. Wolf Parade was formed when Spencer Krug (also in Frog Eyes, Swan Lake, and Sunset Rubdown) was offered a gig supporting Arcade Fire. He called Dan Boeckner (formerly of notable B.C. band Atlas Strategic) and they wrote songs with a drum machine before calling Arlen Thompson (who played drums on the Arcade Fire song "Wake Up") to play drums. Hadji Bakara joined in 2004. Dante DeCaro (formerly of Hot Hot Heat) joined in summer 2005 as second guitarist and percussionist.

Handsome Furs is an indie rock band from Montreal, Canada. The duo of Handsome Furs began as an idea in the winter of 2006, comprised of Vancouver residents Dan Boeckner from Wolf Parade and his fiancée, Alexei Perry. The band is signed on to Sub Pop Records.
