AWB edit summary

You might want to check AWB its not giving an edit summary accurate to the change you made here [1].--Crossmr 17:35, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi again. I see that you started articles on the Martin Denny Exotica albums, so perhaps you have a good grasp of the pop genres of that era. If you get a chance, will you please look over Space age pop? Someone started it and went away. I've tried to clean it up a bit, but I'm unclear myself about what music belongs in this category and what doesn't, since it overlaps lounge and exotica and so on. Any help (or referral to someone who can help) will be appreciated. Thanks! Karen | Talk | contribs 17:43, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Mel Gibson image

Hi, good job on finding that image of Mel Gibson. A question, if you have a Commons account, could you upload that picture there? That way all other language wikipedia's can use the image. If not, I can do it tomorrow. If nobody else has done it yet by then. Again, good job Garion96 (talk) 02:01, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I will do it then tomorrow. Perhaps soon there will be single login, that would make it a bit less of a PITA. :) Garion96 (talk) 02:05, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
I never tried it but there is this program [2]. A program to bulk upload files to commons. Garion96 (talk) 02:22, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
A bit related question, are you going to upload more pictures from that source? If not, I will upload a bunch to Commons. That's a great free photostream there. Garion96 (talk) 02:55, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Always glad to push. :) Garion96 (talk) 18:47, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the notice, I just copied and pasted the image link to a few foreign wikipedia's. Garion96 (talk) 13:24, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Images

One or two screenshots are ok as screenshots are sometimes important to articles, and fair use can be used sometimes in those cases like an I Love Lucy screenshot in Lucille Ball. Promo images, rather unnessarry screenshots or CD covers that was used as the main image, and most other fair use are the ones that should be removed when an free alternave image is found, but if the screenshot is extremely relevant to the article it should stay, especially if it has an strong fair use rationale, see the Mariah Carey and Bette Davis page for examples of fair use and free use working tougether. Category Type designers v.s Category:Typographers

Hey Mr. Chowbok, I've elaborated on the pros and cons of the thread you started on Category talk:Type designers. Would value your experience and any thoughts.

"Userboxes are so three months ago" — Chowbok

File:Savannahcat.jpg

I caught this comment in an edit summary of yours some weeks ago on my watchlist. I thought much the same thing in October 2005 when I first saw user pages littered with those things. Who do these people think they're fooling decorating themselves with worthless insignia? Four is enuff for me, at the bottom of my page.

It's encouraging to hear a Wikipedian spell it out tho—it needs to be said. In recognition of your wit, I Arbo award you this beautiful sacred cat of Halicarnassus, charm/token animal of good wiki adventures.

You rock sir.

Angela Lansbury

I am glad to see you uploaded another photo of Angela Lansbury on the article, as there are very difficult to obtain. The photo uploaded is from 1989, while the one I obtain is from July, 2006, a more recent one. I understand while you upload the new as it's free licence. Let me know your thoughts as I think the more recent one should have a place in the article. ant_ie 07:58, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Fair enough. ant_ie 10:51, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

I see the mess. And I'm the one who put up the AfD. There may be a case for inclusion for that article. I don't think so, but it's up to the consensus to decide. Why don't we wait for that to close before taking a further action? I also see a good argument for keeping the article about the drummer as "Brian Chase (drummer)" as that's his occupation. I don't see that name as very unique. If the AfD closes with "delete" that would resolve the issue and you could point to the discussion if anyone ever chooses to revert back to the hoaxter version. -- Malber (talkcontribs) 20:23, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

See also this: [3] There's a very good reason to keep the article about the drummer titled Brian Chase (drummer). -- Malber (talkcontribs) 20:53, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Rob Zombie compromise

I am a member of Rob Zombie's myspace and I just sent him a message asking if he could donate one of his photos for the GFDL. If and when he responds, and if he says 'yes', can we use that one? Thanks.--CyberGhostface 22:16, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Playboy image

Hey, just curious why you think that the cover you put on the Playboy article is the "most famous". Thanks, Dismas|(talk) 21:29, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Inform uploader

I always do, this was an exception. The license on flickr changed, I wrote to the author on flickr asking permission. (change license to one wikipedia can use). Since the original uploader also simply downloaded the images from flickr (I know him) it seems kind of pointless, there was nothing he could do. I was going do it though, just wanted to see first if I get an answer from the original author soon. Garion96 (talk) 23:04, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Regarding your comment on WP:PUI about those images. That's what I though as well. But how can you prove it? See also my question here since most of the images I uploaded were on Commons. Garion96 (talk) 23:13, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Lol, you were the uploader. Well..the same counts anyway. :) Garion96 (talk) 23:16, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
It's solved. She released them (by e-mail) under the cc-by license. Which to avoid anymore confusion I will e-mail to permissions@etc. Garion96 (talk) 21:19, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Stan Lee

You're comparing an actor to a writer. Writers aren't known for their looks. Most people are familar with Charlie Chaplin the way he looked back then he is now because he was a famous actor back then and is not anymore. This is not the same thing with Stan Lee. More people probably resonate him with the way he is presented today in the media than when he was back then. Example: Look at these two photos of SK. [Image:Stephenkingauthorphoto.jpg] [4] One was taken from when he was arguably well known, although the recent one is much better.--CyberGhostface 01:26, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

New infobox for type specimen pages

Hi Chowbox, over the past weekend atanamir and I have had an exchange about type infoboxes. Mea culpa, my initial dislike I realize was a visual reaction, not about content. The earlier box seemed visually noisy in a place that needed some quiet to let the letters come to the fore. The new infobox is quieter, less constraining. You can take a look here: User:Atanamir/TypeBox. And, thanks for having been tolerant of this newbie. Jim CApitol3 13:00, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Would you believe I was positive that they weren't worth an article? :-) Mad Jack 15:58, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
