Janet Romano-Zicari, better known as Lizzy Borden, (born December 20, 1977 in Huntington Beach, California) is a former American pornographic actress and professional wrestling valet. Together with her husband, porn producer Rob Zicari (aka Rob Black), she runs the porn company Extreme Associates; she has directed several degrading or violent porn movies and in 2003 she was indicted for distributing obscenity.

Early life

In an interview in 2002, she described a childhood characterized by beatings from her mother, who was herself regularly beaten by the alcoholic step father. At the age of 12 she moved in with her grandparents. When she turned 18, she entered a local community college, started to use drugs and became a stripper. She also worked for Disneyland for a while and while working as a stripper, said she fell for porn actress Jill Kelly who she had her first kiss with.

Pornography

Janet Romano started out as a porn star in 1998, initially under the name "Mia Mikels". She was criticized about her looks and weight on the Internet and later confronted one of the porn critics who had slated her. Soon she signed with Extreme Associates despite being advised never to work for the company and adopted the name "Lizzy Borden" which refers to notorious Lizzie Borden who was accused (and acquitted) of murdering her parents in the late 19th century, the name was given to her by Extreme Associates owner Rob Black who later became her husband. She toned up her body and got breast implants and after making just a few movies with the company, began to come up with ideas for movies herself.

She battled and overcame a drug problem and in 1999 began directing adult movies herself. She became known for the extreme content of her films, directing movies like Cocktails (2000) in which women drink vomit and other bodily fluids, Fossil Fucker (2001) in which old women have sex with young men, Cannibalism (2002), and Forced Entry (2002) which shows simulated rape. Lizzy often worked with Veronica Caine who also soon began working as a valet in XPW. Veronica was the star of movies Cocktails and Forced Entry among others.

The filming of Forced Entry was covered in the PBS Frontline documentary American Porn (2002); the makers of the documentary were repulsed and filmed themselves walking off the set. This scene possibly led to the undercover operation that resulted in Black's and Romano's indictment by a grand jury in 2003 for distributing obscene materials via the U.S. Postal Service and the internet in the Pittsburgh area; one of the cited movies was Forced Entry. See the article on Rob Black for further information on the court case.

Wrestling

In 1999, she and Black formed Xtreme Pro Wrestling (XPW), which hired various porn stars as valets or wrestlers, and she played the role of the evil, snobbish owner or "The Bosses Wife". She had Chastity as her assistant and feuded with Kristi Myst. She repeatedly humiliated Kristi by making her do stripteases for her then shoving her around. She was valet of The Messiah and led him to the XPW Championship as part of The Black Army. When The Messiah walked out of XPW, rumors emerged on the Internet about an alleged affair between him and Lizzy although this is unfounded.

Lizzy also feuded with Veronica Caine, Lucy, Tammy Lynn Sytch, Nicole Bass and Major Gunns and managed Johnny Webb for a time once The Messiah was gone. She briefly aligned with Lady Victoria a Mexican female wrestler, who had turned heel and left the side of the tag team Mexico's Most Wanted, and made her dye her hair blonde to be like her clone. In her feud with Lucy she and Shane Douglas would battle Lucy and her "husband" Vic Grimes in mixed tag matches. Lizzy would often feud with any female in XPW, usually getting her allies of The Black Army to attack them for her. In late 2002, she and Shane Douglas would take over the company and they ran shows out of Pennsylvania. XPW ended soon afterwards.
