Hand regard is a developmental stage of an infant characterized by the infant following its hands with its eyes. This stage is typically reached between 12 and 20 weeks of age.

It is very cute.

Some think that it exists to allow infants to practice vision (as opposed to resulting from the child seeing the hands). This view is reinforced by the fact that it has been observed in blind infants.
