WFIR is the only all-news radio station in Roanoke, VA. The WFIR antenna is located at Towers Mall, with the two towers literally surrounded by a shopping center in Southwest Roanoke.

WFIR is affiliated with the CBS Radio Network. Sister stations to WFIR include WXLK-FM (K92), WSLC-FM (Star Country) and WSLQ-FM (Q99). WFIR is owned by Mel Wheeler, Inc..
