Stockholms Vandrareförening

Tycker Du om att vandra i skog och mark? Stockholms Vandrareförening ordnar vandringar i Stockholm och dess omgivningar? Följ med oss ut!

Varje söndag ordnar Stockholms vandrareförening en eller flera kortare eller litet längre turer i stockholmstrakten. Dessutom vandrar vi på onsdagar och sommartid även på lördagar. Ibland kan det bli en litet kortare promenad på någon ö i skärgården med bad. Men vi har också riktigt långa vandringar för de som vill vara ute hela dagen. Våra turer passar för alla kategorier av vandrare.

För att gå med på våra endagsvandringar behöver Du inte vara medlem och det kostar ingenting, men för en medlemsavgift om 100 kronor per år får Du även delta i helgfärder, fjällresor, vandringsresor utomlands och andra klubbaktiviteter.

Stockholms Vandrareförening bildades 1913, och har sedan dess ordnat vandringar i stockholmstrakten varje söndag. Föreningen har idag drygt 1000 medlemmar. Verksamheten baseras på ett 70-tal ideella vandringsledare

Greencole Street is an area on the south side of Belfast, Northern Ireland, a beautiful land. It is very close to the Queen's University of Belfast and thus many students reside in the area. A resident of Oakland County, Michigan, Jim is a Certified Public Accountant practicing in the Metro Detroit area for the past 9 years.

Silas (UK metal/rock/progressive band)

Silas are an up and coming UK metal band formed in late 2003 from the remnants of two former school bands. They are a 5 piece band and have an unusual lineup in that there is a bass player and vocalist, the latter being one of four guitarists, two of whom swap between guitar and drums depending on the song being played.

They began playing gigs around the local pub circuit in 2004, including shows at Inferno's in Welling and the famous Cartoon in Croydon (now closed down). They have since developed their style to a unique form of heavy music influenced by a diverse range of different genres. They built something of a name for themselves in and around their local area, with the now legendary bright blue LED 'SILAS' sign - A.K.A. 'the sign'.

Recent developments have seen them expanding their fan base, performing in areas such as Sheerness and at the Shakespearience in Stratford Upon Avon. Notable shows to date include The Underworld in Camden and The Phoenix in Dartford, supporting The Inbreds and Raging Speedhorn.

Their debut album 'Welcome To The Journey...' is due for release on the 1st November 2007.

NALCO, CPP( National Aluminium company Limited, Captive Power Plant)[1]is situated in Angul district of state Orissa of country India. This CPP consists of 8 units each having capacity of 120 MW i.e. total capacity is 960MW (120MWx8). Currently second phase expansion is going on that will result into addition of two more units of 120 MW capacity each. After this expansion NALCO CPPs' capacity will become 1200MW (120MWx10). Most probably after that it will become largest captive power plant of India.

Y-CAP

Y-CAP redirects youth behavior by teaching values and rebuilding families. Y-CAP stands for YMCA Community Action Program. The goal of Y-CAP is to help youth become productive members of the community. Y-CAP targets youth 10-15 years old that are referred by concerned parents, a school professional, juvenile court or a mental health professional because of truancy, behavior issues or poor academic performance. Y-CAP holistically works to empower youth to reach their goals through program time after school, home visits with parents and monthly family nights. Y-CAP is currently serving youth and families in Memphis, Tennessee and DeSoto County, Mississippi. www.y-cap.org

The Hispanic College Fund programs target students of Hispanic background that come from families with incomes at or below their state’s median family income (based on family size). There are four main programs through which HCF accomplishes its mission of developing Hispanic professionals:

- HCF Scholarship programs
- Hispanic Young Professionals Program (HYP)
- Latinos on Fast Track (LOFT)
- Hispanic Youth Symposia (HYS)


HCF Scholarship Program
The HCF scholarship program was started in 1993. In its first year, the Hispanic College Fund award $11,000 in scholarships to 14 students. Since then, thanks to its generous supporters, the Hispanic College Fund has awarded more than $8.5 million in scholarships to Hispanic students. The Hispanic College Fund scholarships range from $500 to $10,000. The median award is $3,000 and is designated to the payment of tuition and fees or educational expenses. The awards are competitive. Tens of thousands of students begin an application, but less than 600 are selected as recipients.


Hispanic Young Professionals (HYP)
The Hispanic Young Professionals program (HYP) brings together 25 – 30 outstanding college students from around the country to Washington, D.C. for a four-day program that includes: behind-the-scenes company tours, career-focused workshops, and introductions to mentors who guide them throughout the year.


Student participants are selected through a competitive application process from among the annual pool of Hispanic College Fund scholarship recipients. Recipients of HCF Scholarships (between 500 – 600 college students each year) are invited to apply.


The Hispanic Young Professionals program combines workshops, company visits, and mentoring relationships, all of which take place over four intensive days in October. Workshops cover topics such as Networking, Financial Planning, Goal Setting, and Business Etiquette.


Students visit corporations, associations and federal agencies to learn about specific industries, business cultures, and the education and the professional skills necessary to succeed in the professional environment. Students have the opportunity to meet executives and learn about their personal and professional paths.


Mentoring relationships are established during the annual Mentors luncheon. HCF matches Mentors (professionals who are a part of HCF’s networks) and Mentees (HYP participants) based on career goals, college majors, and other factors. By the time the Mentees meet their Mentors, they have already taken part in a skill-building workshop on networking, and the Mentor luncheon provides them with an opportunity to practice their new skills.


The Hispanic Young Professionals program takes place each year in Washington, D.C. culminating with the Hispanic College Fund’s Annual Scholarship Awards Gala where the scholars are honored for their academic achievements in front of an audience of corporate executives, entrepreneurs, members of congress and community leaders.

Latinos on Fast Track (LOFT)
LOFT was launched in early 2005 to identify ideal candidates for employers seeking to fill internship or permanent positions and offer companies the opportunity to influence Hispanic youth seeking career direction. This unique program builds on an organization's recruitment efforts and leverages the partnership between two high-caliber organizations, the Hispanic College Fund and Hispanic Heritage Awards Foundation. In 2005 Fannie Mae placed 25 summer interns from LOFT at various lending institutions throughout the country. 100% of these lenders would like to have another LOFT intern in 2006, 41% have offered a job to the intern, and almost 100% of lenders were extremely pleased with the intern’s performance. Three additional sponsors have been secured for 2006: Beazer Homes (25 interns), Allianz Life (5 interns), and Abercrombie & Fitch (Year-round Manager trainees).


Hispanic Youth Symposia (HYS)
The Hispanic Youth Symposia are the nation’s only programs that combine college counseling, mentorship, career advice, and other supports in a three-day, two-night, on-campus setting, where participants live in dorms, eat in dining halls, and experience the college lifestyle. What the Hispanic Youth Symposia do better than any other program is: • Provide a support network for Hispanic youth to successfully set and achieve their personal, academic and career goals. • Encourage Hispanics to remain in high school and pursue college. • Provide student forums to discuss, design and implement action plans to overcome barriers to higher education and career.

By placing Hispanic youth in “the college environment;” and by providing the supports that will enable them to thrive in high school, college, and beyond, the Hispanic Youth Symposia is putting teens on the road to productive, fulfilling lives.

Last year approximately 350 high school students attended our programs in the greater Washington, D.C. area; Baltimore, Maryland and Fresno, California.

This year we are expanding to the San Francisco Bay area and expect about 500 high school students to participate. Next year we will add New Mexico and Connecticut.
