Candice Michelle Beckman-Ehrlich[2] (born September 30 1978), better known as Candice Michelle or just Candice, is an American model, actress and professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment performing on its RAW brand, where she is the reigning WWE Women's Champion.[7]

After spending years modeling and acting, Candice Michelle was hired by WWE in 2004, after she participated in the WWE Diva Search.[8] Outside of wrestling, Candice is known as the Go Daddy Girl,[9] performing in the company's annual Super Bowl commercials.[10][11] She posed for a cover and nude pictorial in the April 2006 issue of Playboy.[12] On June 24 2007, she defeated Melina to win her first Women's Championship and become the first former WWE Diva Search contestant to win a WWE title.[13]

Career

Early career

Beckman grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.[3] At 16, she won a modeling competition at her local skating rink.[14] She later moved to Los Angeles, California to become a professional model and actress.[15] She studied Theater Arts at Santa Monica College and had on camera acting and Meisner technique training at The Piero Dusa Acting Studio.[16] It was during this time that Beckman adopted the surname Michelle.[1][17] She appeared in numerous bodybuilding and car magazines such as FLEX and Lowrider Magazine, as well as being named Cyber Girl of the Week in the June 2002 issue of Playboy.[1][18][19] Michelle also worked as a foot fetish model, under the pseudonym Mackenzie Montgomery.[20][21][22] Michelle made appearances on television programs such as Party of Five and 7th Heaven, as well as appearing in such films as Tomcats and A Man Apart.[23] She also starred in a softcore role for the HBO series Hotel Erotica.[21]

World Wrestling Entertainment

2004-2005

In July 2004, Michelle auditioned to be a contestant for World Wrestling Entertainment's RAW Diva Search.[3][24] Despite not being chosen to be in the final ten,[3] she was hired by the company under the gimmick of a makeup artist.[2][8] She competed on RAW in several Diva contests, including lingerie fashion shows and limbo contests, until the end of the year.[25][26]

On June 30, 2005 Candice was moved to SmackDown! where she became involved in an angle (storyline) between Torrie Wilson and Melina.[2][27] On July 24, Candice made her pay-per-view debut at The Great American Bash where she served as the Special Guest Referee for the Bra and Panties match between Wilson and Melina.[28] She was then moved back to RAW in a trade along with Wilson.[29] In her next angle, Candice and Torrie turned heel by taunting 2005 Diva Search winner Ashley Massaro and joined forces with fellow RAW Diva Victoria.[30] The three-Diva stable became known as Ladies in Pink (later Vince's Devils, a play on the Charlie's Angels television series and films).[31] They continued feuding with Massaro until Trish Stratus returned from a legitimate injury to help Massaro "retaliate" against Vince's Devils.[32] In November, Candice signed on to pose for the April 2006 issue of Playboy.[12]

She was booked to have her first shot at the WWE Women's Championship in a Fulfill Your Fantasy Battle Royal at Taboo Tuesday and was eliminated from the match by Ashley Massaro.[33]

2006

In January, Candice appeared at New Year's Revolution in the first ever Bra and Panties Gauntlet match, where she was eliminated by Maria.[34] After being booked to win a number one contender's Diva battle royal on RAW, Candice got her first singles WWE Women's Championship match, but lost to then-champion Trish Stratus on February 27.[35][36] After the match, Candice slapped Wilson, kayfabe blaming her for the loss.[36]

Vince's Devils later broke up when Wilson turned face after Candice and Victoria turned on her during Candice's Playboy cover unveiling.[12] This feud led to a match at WrestleMania 22 in which both Playboy cover girls competed in a Playboy Pillow Fight.[37] Wilson won the match, but the feud continued sporadically in backstage segments where Candice was Vince McMahon's kayfabe "sex slave".[1]

On the July 17 edition of RAW, Candice was the Special Guest Referee during a tag team match of Stratus and Wilson against Victoria and Mickie James. Mickie James entered the match without being tagged in so Candice threw her out of the ring. Afterwards, Victoria tried to clothesline Candice but she ducked out of the way, allowing Stratus to hit the Stratusfaction for the victory. As a result of this predetermined end to the match, Candice turned face.[38]

After Unforgiven, Candice was booked to win a match against Lita the next night on RAW.[39] The next week, in her second match against Lita, Candice was pinned after interference from Edge, in the first round of the WWE Women's Championship tournament.[40] She later competed in the first ever Extreme Strip Poker segment on ECW on October 10, representing RAW.[41]

On the November 27 edition of RAW, during the Diva battle royal, Candice suffered a legitimate broken nose when Victoria kicked her in the face.[42] She had surgery on November 30 to repair her deviated septum.[43]

Candice returned at New Year's Revolution on January 7, 2007 when she went to the ring with Maria to kayfabe fight off Melina as she tried to interfere in the WWE Women's Championship match between then-champion Mickie James and Victoria.[44] Candice made her in-ring return on January 22 when she and Mickie James defeated Victoria and Melina in a tag team match with Candice scoring the pinfall.[45]

Candice then resumed her feud with Melina, who claimed in her blogs that all Playboy cover models were not capable of fighting her in the ring.[46] Candice took offense to this, which led to a Bra and Panties Match between the two, which she lost.[47] During this time, Candice began training on her off-days to improve her in-ring abilities.[3] Weeks later, Candice was pushed to pick up storyline wins in tag matches that pitted her with Mickie James against Victoria and Melina. She also picked up several wins against the latter two in singles matches, which accumulated into the first ever Pudding Match at One Night Stand, which Candice also won, defeating Melina.[48][49][50] After being pushed to win matches for several weeks in a row, at Vengeance, Candice defeated Melina to capture her first WWE Women's Championship, becoming the first ever WWE Diva Search contestant to win the Women's Title.[13] Candice retained her title against Melina in a rematch at The Great American Bash as well as debuting a new finisher called the Candywrapper.[51]

Candice was challenged to a match for the title by Beth Phoenix after Phoenix won a tri-branded Diva battle royal at SummerSlam to become the number one contender for the Women's Title.[52] However, at the Unforgiven pay-per-view, Candice successfully retained her title in their match by countering one of Phoenix's moves with a crucifix pin. Their storyline feud continued when Phoenix pinned Candice during a non-title mixed tag team match on RAW on September 24. [53]

In wrestling

  • Theme music
    • Her theme music was promoted as being "Holla", performed by Desiree Jackson on the track listing of WWE Wreckless Intent, however the track was allocated to Kelly Kelly and now Extreme Exposé.[54]
    • Candice's first theme was a WWE production titled "Don't Stop", which she only used briefly.
    • Candice used a WWE-produced track entitled "What is Love?" until August 2007.
    • Candice currently uses a modified techno version of "What is Love?", a remix by Scooter and Lavelle.[55]

Championships and accomplishments

Go Daddy

Candice gained national attention in 2005 when she appeared in a commercial for internet domain provider Go Daddy, which aired during Super Bowl XXXIX.[3][10][56] She played a character named "Nikki Cappelli" who had trouble with her blouse as she testified before a panel holding broadcast censorship hearings.[6][57] The commercial was a parody of the 2004 "wardrobe malfunction" in which Janet Jackson's right breast was exposed.[10] She then became widely known as Miss GoDaddy.com and the Go Daddy Girl.[3][9][58]

The following year, she was featured in several more Go Daddy commercials. During the 2006 NFC playoffs, she was featured cleaning windows.[11] She later appeared in a commercial during Super Bowl XL, where she seduced an ABC executive to acquire an advertising slot for Go Daddy.[9] She appeared in another commercial for Super Bowl XLI in 2007, where she danced in a room being doused with champagne.[59] Candice appeared on American Chopper to promote the commercial as well as Go Daddy's custom made chopper.[60][61]

Other media

In mid-August 2007, Candice taped an episode of The Family Feud with Batista, John Cena, Mr. Kennedy, King Booker, Layla El, Maria, Michelle McCool, Montel Vontavious Porter, and Queen Sharmell.[3] It is scheduled to air in November.[62]

Personal life

Candice is of German and Costa Rican descent.[6] She has an interest in sports, playing varsity and college basketball.[56] She is also a Green Bay Packers fan.[6] On May 7, 2005, she married Dr. Ken Gee Ehrlich, a West Los Angeles chiropractor.[63]
