Kulilin
Im surprised noone noticed this before, but on one of his hats it clearly says "Kulilin", this is the first hat he is seen wearing in Dragonball Z just before they set off from Earth to Namek, if you want you can watch that episode again, I think its 38 or 39 where he wears it, if someone could get back to me on that id really like to hear your opinions on this(Opinions and not insults regarding my intelligence and/or mother.).205.209.70.189 13:29, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Kuririn
"He is often used as comic relief[...] by the writers" The writers? AFAIK Toriyama wrote it all by himself.
- The anime had several writers, in addition to Toriyama, but you are mostly correct and the statement is misleading. JRP
Krillin
His official Dub name is Krillin. I think the article should be called Krillin instead of Kuririn.
- Because FUNimation's "dub" is the only source, not their subtitles and VIZ's manga. Voice of Treason 03:40, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
You listed 2 sources, the subtitles and the manga. I can list 4: The Funimation dub, The videogames, the action figures, and the Official card game. They all use names like Krillin, Cooler, and Dabura, rather than Kuririn, Coola, or Dabra. The subtitles and Manga aren't the official names, they are simply a direct translation of the Japanese version.
- Pardon me, but that's absurd. How is Viz's translation any less viable than FUNimation's, which uses the same name in the subtitles? One would think those translations would be just as "official" - if not more so - than those made to sell the dub. Voice of Treason 23:57, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
FUNimation uses them in their official subs. Viz uses it. That's two official sources right there. "The video games, action figures, and TCG" are not relevent to this discussion. They are merchandise. We're writing articles on a manga and the anime based on it, not FUNimation's marketing deals and products. It's the same reason we use the Daizenshuu attack list in these articles. Try to make an accurate, non-contradictory attack list using the various english sources (manga, anime, video games). Trust me, you reallllly can't. Onikage725
The videogames, toys, and cardw are OFFICIAL merchandise. The names were OK'd for use. Those are the official names, whether you like it or not.
- That's not actually true. The likenesses are licensed, true. But no one "approves" or "makes official" all of the extra. JRP 23:12, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
They approve the names on the cards, otherwise, somebody would start selling Krillin cards that list his name as "short bald dude." Funimation doesn't use Kuririn.
- THAT would be misleading. The licensees have no desire to mislead people and so they will choose the most common names, which will probably be FUNi names. Their process isn't too much different than here. I'm not saying that we shouldn't use "Krillin", but this line of debate is inaccurate. Now that Viz has switched to "Djinn Boo", I'm less inclined to say we should use their names without exceptions. ;) JRP 13:25, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
What names are used on cards is irrelevant. Again, this article is on a character from a MANGA and ANIME. For official information, those are our sources. You could argue familiarity with with the dub names if you like, but that Kuririn isn't used in the states is untrue. It's used in the manga and it is used in the OFFICIAL US subtitles as licensed by FUNimation and translated by Steve Simmons. Also, if you want to talk about the merch, the R. Talsorian game uses the dub name but also tells the reader what the original name was and the associated pun (Kuri/Chestnut). And Budokai 3 Special Edition and Budokai Tenkaichi have japanese tracks where you can clearly hear the original name being spoken. Onikage725
- This is quite possible the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Kuririn is his Japanese name, while Krillin is his English name. While you may believe calling him Kuririn gives you nerd cred, it doesn't make any sense to list it as such on the English wiki. There's really no debate on the matter, he's called Krillin in both the English anime version and the English manga as well as all merchandise relating to him. For the sake of not being confusing it should be listed as Krillin with his alternate spelling listed as an aside. And really, I can't stress how dumb this is. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.180.254.215 (talk) 20:41, 3 January 2007 (UTC).
- Nerd cred? Nice personal attack pal. And FYI, as we stated above, the English manga does not use "Krillin." It uses "Kuririn." So do the officially licensed subs. Onikage725
Hmm, I didn't realize there was such a controversy over this. Paul Haymon 08:59, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
This argument is completely ridiculous. For heaven's sake, it's just a name! Accept it as it is. The English manga, by the way does call him in fact: Kuririn (suprise, suprise(!)) It's not necessesarily about "nerd cred" (which silly, belligerent editors always accuse people of blindly, and start inane arguments), its simply following the titles and names as stated in English manga. I honestly see no sef-importance in giving a character a name that so happens to be Japanese. Everybody reading would obviously put two and two together anyway, if they found out his English spelling first anyway. I assume the readers aren't stupid. If it is true that fanboys keep naming Dragon Ball characters in Japanese names out of arrogance, then they might as well title Piccolo: "Piccoro", Bulma as "Buruma" and Vegeta as "Bejita", but obviously that isn't the case. So there you go, Krillin is otherwise titled Kuririn in reference to the manga. If you have a problem with the name, don't complain to the editors of this article, complain to Viz as they're the ones who called him that in the first place. This was a silly argument anyway, which is wasting space on the discussion. Please think about the arguments or things you are about to discuss, before you direct them. (fanboys keep naming characters in Japanese, yeah right!) [[[User:Uglyguy2006|Uglyguy2006]] 21:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)]
Dragonball GT
All of the info under the GT sectionhas nothing to do with GT, and is trivia based on Dragonball and Dragonball Z. Ultimen 06:57, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
A second Running Gag?
It seems to me that everytime Krillin fights and is taken down, his neck is Broken, I belive this would count as a Running gag, due to it happening several times in the Manga and Anime. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.247.21.21 (talk) 00:17, 4 January 2007 (UTC).
I don't remember Krillin's neck ever breaking except for when he was kicked by Cell. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.76.138.251 (talk) 05:43, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Deaths
I may be wrong about this, but I believe that Krillin has died the most amount of times in the Dragon Ball series. Master Roshi (for some reason) has a "Deaths" section on his page where it counts his deaths, why not Krillin?
It's really no big deal, but I'd like to see some form of list of the amount of times Krillin died, and how.
In canon he dies three times: 1. Killed by Tamborine offscreen after his second Budokai 2. Blown up by Frieza 3. Eaten by Buu (Along with most people) I think he dies again in GT, but I haven't seen it. This information is on the article.Retlor 23:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Yep, he also dies in GT, Android 17 shoots him through the heart with a blast. That's 4 times in total. - Admeister200x, 25th August 2007. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Admeister200x (talk • contribs) 14:32, August 24, 2007 (UTC)
Krillin - The Vengeance!
Ok, This is the english wikipedia. To the best of my knowledge it is not the japanese wikipedia, nor is it the Otaku wikipedia. It is the english language wikipedia, and in the english language, the man is named Krillin. Yeah, blah blah Harmony Gold, blah blah Official Subtitles... His name is Krillin. To say anything else is quite silly. Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Jet Li, Mako, Dean Cain and Pat Morita are all famous Actors of Asian descent, and not a one of them is born with the names given here (ok, so Mako is just short for Makoto but still). If you look them up by their birth names, they redirect to their stage names, their ENGLISH stage names. Why, you may ask? Because this is english wikipedia. Now they are real people, and Krillin is just a character in an anime... but so what? By the pages own admission, his name is a combination of Kuri- (from the japanese word for chestnut, which is in wikipedia as Japanese Chestnut anyway, rather than its japanese "real" name) and -rin Shōrin, which is just a japanese approximation of a chinese word, Shaolin... so really I guess his name is really Kurilin... hey, thats like Krillin... I guess that settles it then, no? WookMuff 10:31, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- People have been through this again and again on most of the Dragon Ball articles. Kuririn is the result of a consensus, and there's really no need to bring the discussion back up. 217.198.150.144 08:06, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes... yes their is. If their is consensus, how come people keep bringing it back up? Wikipedia is not a place for Otaku fanboys to lord their knowledge of manga over the ignorant masses. Wikipedia is for the masses, and if you ask the masses, this man is Krillin. Anyway, as I pointed out above, the difference is merely one of pronunciation. Kuririn is just Krillin pronounced by a japanese speaker, and vice versa. WookMuff 08:24, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
Your argument is noted. I too am annoyed of fanboys lording knowledge, but still do notice that each of the Dragon Ball character articles have names that are spelt in the manga (Don't ask me why).Anyway, because of this, the character is called "Kuririn" as opposed to "Krillin" as it is what he is called in the manga. Uglyguy2006
The thing is, this isn't a case of a "man" named "Kuririn" with a common American stage name of "Krillin." It's just a case of which English adaptation to use. In this case, since his name as written by the author is a pun on the word "kuri" (for chestnut), Viz and Steve Simmons chose the better spelling. Our emphasis is on factuality. It isn't about lording knowledge, but it also isn't about blidnly showing favor to our youthful days watching Toonami after school. People on the other side often accuse us of fanboyism and say this isn't for the fans. I say the same applies in reverse- this is about being factual and encyclopedic, not catering to what dub fans are already familiar with. Onikage725 21:39, 18 August 2007 (UTC) I thank you for bringing out your comments, but my point wasn't about why it is preferable to use the dub name at all. My point was that someone asked why it was that the said character was spelt "Kuririn", and my comment on fanboys was not in particular to you, Onikage725, or the decision to give the character the manga name. My point was that at times, avid Dragon Ball fans do in fact tend to lord over knowledge over others, not so much this article in particular. I was also curious to why he was "Kuririn" (although there's nothing wrong with that) considering that the Dragon Ball character articles have information on the anime as well. Having noted that, it seemed a bit of contradiction to me, but your explanation is good. When I was talking about "fanboys lording over knowledge", I wasn't referring to this article at all, but I neglected to point out in my original comment, that this article doesn't necessarily fit the accusation. I was just curious to know why he was called "Kuririn", because if I knew I would answered why he was called such, but I did explain he's called that in the English manga, and it's not so much just using Japanese names. Personally, I have no quarrel with the Wikipedia article on the said charcter referred to as "Kuririn". You can call him "Chestnut-Shaolin Man" for all I care, he'll still be recognized as the same character, and according to his name pun it goes along the interpretation of his actual name (at least I think it does).Uglyguy2006 21:51, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- I know your comments weren't targeted at specific people, and I myself was responding to the entire discussion, touching on different elements, not so much just pointing at you). I only meant to clarify the position of those of us on the task force who use these names for the articles. To address above, the anime uses both names (since it rarely plays on TV, we have to consider its chief distribution as DVD, which are dual-language and use both sets of names). Also, the Viz manga adaptation uses Kuririn rather than Krillin. Basically, to break it down, it goes like this. 2/3 of the primary sources use names that are accurate or in line with the originals (the manga and FUNi's subs). The other 1/3 is likely more recognizable than either of the other 2 alone, though to say defintley over both I think is speculative (I'm pretty sure the manga sells well and every sale of the DVD carries both versions, leaving the only non-speculative proof to be TV viewership figures). Since that other version is in reduced circulation and is riddled with inconsistencies, we choose not to favor any particular adaptation over the original source material, so long as we can source our info to a primary english source (meaning manga or anime subbed or dubbed). It seems to me that a large number of other manga articles and workgroups follow similar thinking, and a number of them have reached GA status. The only consistent argument against this has generally been that "this is English" and that subs aren't. That's just dub fanboyism though. An officially licensed subtitle track *is* an official english release. Some anime aren't released with a dub. This happens even moreso with foreign films. That doesn't mean that they haven't had an English-language release (assuming they've been subbed in English). That's basically the point I try to make on these kinds of issues. Onikage725 16:47, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
I was just about to complain about the article name, but now I agree with it. Krillin is his English name, but it's not the offical one. I totaly agree that his official name should be used instead of the name he's actually known by.--TailsClock 16:18, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, but you're just as annoying for demanding that ANY spelling is more correct than any other. It's JAPANESE manga/cartoon. Therefore, the only real OFFICIAL name uses Japanese characters that are incomprehensible to most Americans. ANY English spelling is an approximate phonetic representation of those characters. So if you know who the name is referring to, then it's correct. End of story. Cobratom 00:30, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Manga
"Kuririn's ingenuity and talent for Ki-manipulation is far superior than that of most warriors, even those stronger than himself, and he has a knack for sensing hidden powers." _Where is the part of the manga who states krillin is far superior for ki manipulation than most warriors????? That is a lie, another nonsense fan made. "Kuririn had his dormant Ki awakened by the Namek Elder during the events of Freeza, but this has been his only "enhancement". You mean the sleeping powers that made him just strong enough for reecom to beat him with a single kick. "Kuririn has trained hard most of his life, becoming extremely powerful and proving it in combat with many foes." Who are the many foes??????????? Let me guess, cell saga when krillin was the only one too scared to even fight the androids when the time came or in the Buu saga, where Tien fares better against Super Buu with Piccolo and Gotenks absorbed than Krillin did against Super Buu with nobody absorbed. Tien also proves his strength by deflecting a blast from Super Buu (W/SS3 Gotenks, and Piccolo ). Maybe in the sayan saga, krillin took a single kick from Nappa and he was out, he couldn't move, he had to rely on gohan and piccolo to do most of the work then Goku comes along, cleans house and gives krillin a freakin senzu bean. And tien stays without a arm and nappa kicks him and he stills tries to kill him with a tri- beam canon. This is an article full of inconsistencies and lies.
- First part of that about the Ki-manipulation. What it means is that Krillin (use Krillin because its easier too type) can use his powers in creative ways as well as being able to feel other characters powers better then most character and he has. First off other than Goku, Krillin was one of the first character to maniputale the Kamahameha to change direction in a instant. Against the Saibamen he used a energy technique (Kakusandan) that destroyed the remain S-Men. The first to use and properly display the Kienzan as well as learn to use multiple Kienzan. Learn to fly on his own without a master training them like Tein with Crane and Goku with Kami. The only Non-Goku person to handle the Genki Dama, yes created by Goku but if Krillin didn't have the abliliy to control ki he wouldn't have the ability to form the energy into a ball (by the way was the first time we seen the true from of the Genki Dama. Manga wise it was not until the Freeza saga we seen Goku use the true form of the G-Dama.) Now it does not have to say something to show its true. Other than Goku what character can manipulate ki as Krillin has? Tien? close, Yamcha? come on, not even Piccolo, Gohan, Trunk (both), Goten or Vegeta has shown such manipitalion of ki as Krillin has in these creative ways.
- Now about the statment about Krillin has trained hard most of his life, becoming extremely powerful and proving it in combat with many foes. That is true and these are the enemies he has show it to. This will show manga, anime and movie villians. Piccolo Daimao henchman Tambourine, Despite being scared at first and being killed he did fight him. Next is Piccolo himself. despite Piccolo was clearly stronger Krillin did surprise Piccolo with strength, several move and technique. Next is yes Nappa, against a Saiyan several time stronger than himself, Krillian was the only character that could have physically hurt Nappa, remember the Kienzan was the only technique that phyically hurt Nappa and if Vegeta didnt warn Nappa would have killed him. Tiens Tri Beam only slowed nappa down and had no true physical damage other smoke scares on his body. Help against Oozaru Vegeta, Next Krillin's involvement in the Namek affair and when the Z-Fighter fought Freeza before Goku arrived. Ya we was afraid to fight the android but he did attack Cell several time, Anime when chasing Cell and fought Cell off to save that family, twice, when Cell chase 18 before and after perfection. The first to attack a Cell jr without mush hesitation and help to try stop Cell during his fight with Gohan (Kamehameha battle). Movie wise we got his involvement in stopping Garlic jr, Dr Wheeler, Coola, Broly, Bio Broly. I could go on. But even though most of the time Krillin was defeated he has show heart and shown he is powerful enough to hold his own against many enemies. So no this article does not lie about such thing that are state.
- Also Tien did not fare better than any other character that got crushed by Buu. Ya he stopped a energy blast with his Tri beam. How many character has stopped a stronger blast with a seemingly weaker one? Just guess. and Tien got knocked out with one swift kick to the chin by Buu's bottom half. nice try using that. Krillin has proven himself against many more foes then Tien.Heat P 15:39, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
You are funny and a fanboy that's all. Your fan conclusions about krillin ki manipulation are fan made and pathetic, tri-beam is much more difficult and dangerous to master than kamehameha and tien made kamehameha effortlessly in the first time he saw it,however the great krillin had to train years to do the same,he couldn't even beat dracula man.Piccolo junior without any master in his life by himself learned to fly alone which means Piccolo is far superior in ki manipulation than krillin ,etc, etc,so your fan krillin vision is ridiculous. There isn't 1 single sentence in the manga who proves krillin is better in ki-manipulation so your subjective conclusion doesn't work in a good article. Against nappa is the funniest part because nappa hits tien several times and he could survive and inflict dammage in nappa's armor, however the great krillin atack had zero effects in nappa's armor. Against nappa one kick and krillin was out tien suffered several blows and he was still abble to fight,so Again your conclusions are biased and sad.Krillin only defeated saibamen with an energetic atack, hand to hand he couldn't handle them like tien did.Remember goku and piccolo only could hurt raditz with energy blasts but hand to hand they were a lot weaker which means krillin could hurt energetically Nappa never physically .Even krillin himself states in the manga tien and piccolo are the stronger ones but in your fan mind you refuse to face the facts. Krillin never attacks cell several times that is filler doesn't count, movies are filler too.In the final battle against cell krillin was the last one to help the z-fighters,which means your previous statement is a lie.Tien stopped a energy blast with his Tri beam and gohan was scared with that blast after that buutenks+ piccolo says tien was pretty strong and against krillin he never said anything, but of course, conveniently you forgot that part.Nice try using that. Krillin was a pathetic weak runt he never has proven himself against many more foes than Tien. This article in fact lies a lot. And yeah Krillin did surprise Piccolo but he lost like always with a single blow and he couldn't force piccolo to take the weights instead tien forces goku to take the weights.Tambourine defeated as always krillin with a single kick. Almost nothing is stated in this article. Tien also proves he has a lot better ki manipulation than krillin when he masters mafuba alone in 3 days and mutaito took a year to do it. Many character has stopped a stronger blast with a seemingly weaker one? Who????? Ghosts???Oh krillin forgot to deflect with a kamehameha reecoom's atack against vegeta, lol, let me guess he couldn't because he was too weak to deflect reecoom's attack with a kamehameha . Against zarbon, cell jr,etc krilin as always was scared and in the anime you like to mention he is the first one defeated against cell jr and when Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Krillin, and Piccolo shoot energy blasts at Cell and Cell blows all of the them away, Krillin is blown away first, then Yamcha, then Tenshinhan and finally Piccolo. Even before they decide to help out Gohan, Tenshinhan goes to help before Krillin and Yamcha, lol.Krillin was a good clown used for comic relief, that's all even against androids he tried to use bulma's idea to skip the fight, lol.
Sorry not a fan boy and your personal attacks are fun. If you want to know I like Krillin but he is not my favorite character. If you want to know its Son Gohan, Mirai Trunks, and Son Goku. Krillin is not my favorite. Lets get that personal attack straight! Now in my statement did I say anything about who was stronger? No! I pointed out that his Ki manipulation was better than most character. I will still say this Tien comes close. I agree with you earlier on he was way better than Krillin but Krillin came up very fast. This Nappa arguement of yours is silly. One of the weakest villain of DBZ. Again I did not say he was stronger than Tien. But Krillin was the only person that could have killed Nappa if not for Vegeta's inteference. Next the other Z-fighter had training from Kaiosama where only Krillin got a power boost tha was not enough to fight the Ginyu Force but afterwards he trained, suppasing Yamcha, and equal to Tien without Kaio's training. Now again did I say Krillin was stronger? No. I said he was proven himself in battle against stronger enemies. More than Tien with includes movies and anime fillers. Manga wise Tien has faced Yamcha, Goku, Piccolo Daimao , Piccolo Daimao's henchmen, 1 Saibeman, Nappa, A 17, Cell Jr., Cell, and a encounter with Buu. Krillin, Manga wise, Dracula man, Goku, Muten Roshi (Jackie Chun), Piccolo Daimao henchman Tambourine, Piccolo, several Saibemen, Nappa, Vegeta, Guldo, Reacoom, Ginyu in Goku's body, Freeza 2nd and final form, Cell Jr, Cell, and a encounter with Buu. Now that does not mean he is stronger but has shown he has proven himself against more enemies and rival. Manga wise I will agree that Tien is stronger but Krillin has proven much better against foes. I believe in the manga and rather use it here but Ki man- Krillin has shown he is much more better than others and I will give it to you and say equal to Tien, with the exception of Goku. Piccolo right behind them. Next Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Tien has shown they destroyed or deflected a powerful blast with a smaller one. I did not say ANYTHING about Krillin deflecting a blast. Get it right. His ki man- is better which later in the manga Krillin proved that, and has poven himself against enemies more than Tien DESPITE being scared at first. Ya he is lil coward but he still has the warrior heart. So no the article is not full of lies. Next lets get away for this agruement for a second and look at the article. In it it says his Ki man- is better than most fighters. It did not give off names other than most Saiyans or what side they were on. It said he was the strongest Pure human character in the series. Tien was never comfirmed or denided if he was a pure human. read the atricle again. You look like you read only what you want. One more thing. I did say Tiem's TriBeam stopped Buu's attack on Gohan. Read youngster. and Yamcha was the first to fall in there help with Gohan against Cell's Kamehameha. But it was Krillin next to Piccolo in that fight after the first knock down. It shows, manga anime and movies that Krillin has proven himself with Ki manipulation and against stronger enemies. have a nice day Heat P 12:55, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
OK i give you all the credit and i'm sorry about the fanboy thing and you convinced me in some points. My favourite character isn't tien either but Uub,Vegeta,Trunks and super-17.However,Krillin never came up very fast(again you make assumptions without any evidence) because he was always weaker than tien or piccolo or else toriyama could point the awesome krillin progress in android arc and he didn't.Also after the training from kaiohsama krillin doesn't reach tien's level or else toriyama had the chance to state something big like that.About Nappa's arguement:
Nappa was going to let the destructo disc hit him coz being cocky, until Vegeta told him not to.And Krillin got beat by Nappa in one hit, while Tien didn't.There's no real evidence krillin has more ki-m than others like i previously said piccolo junior by himself alone learned how to fly which proves he was better than krillin, again i repeat it is stated in the manga tri-beam and makkanko sappo requires more ki-manipulation control than kamehameha-so your basis for ki-M talent doesn't work.I'm afraid that some "rule" that you made up does not stand at all. There is no such rule that any statement made by a character in the story, never backed up with any additional evidence should be viewed as proof except of course the daizenshuu 7 approved by AT who uses that book to clarify some points like he said in the introduction.
About the energy blast deflected by tien: I will say that Buu himself an incredible strong creature said himself that Tenshinhan was pretty strong and that is enough, see Buu does say that, in the japanese manga. Also Gohan was shocked at Tenshinhan's power,if you can't remember that how can you say the blast was weak ? Besides he was able to deflect Buu's attack, this is partly why Gohan was shocked.Anyway you basing your whole arguement on belittling Tenshinhan and Guru's power up, that was Kuririn's only boost. Tenshinhan's way of training is much more effecient, this is why he's always been stronger in DBZ. Kuririn got a power up but he didn't learn anything, unlike Tenshinhan who trained with Kaio during an entire year under 10 gravity. As the characters progress their power grows higher, faster. Example when they were in the Saiyan saga they went from hundreds to thousands, later thousands to millions and the logic is that so the difference between humans/tien and super namek piccolo/sayans is still in the millions which is a lot,but all of them are in the millions. Tenshinhan went from 250 to 1830 in just a year from earth training, though he had been around for 20 years he only got around 350 (and piccolo 408), and he'd been training a lot, now in just a year he excelled to near 2,000 even goku a sayan only improved in 3 years 70 units he came up from 260 to 330 in 23 BT,later against nappa krillin had 1083 and piccolo 1220 which proves they improve in the same pace,so when some ignorants say humans or a semi-human like tien couln't surpass ginew it makes me laugh because it is pathetic and dumb, in the end all of them were a lot stronger than freezer. So there's no reason he couldnt go from 1,830 to 120,000 and beat the ginew force especially with Kaio's training. It wouldnt be that hard to achieve for Tenshinhan yamcha or kuririn in the same training conditions. Everyone seems to not realize that as DBZ continues peoples power gets higher and higher A LOT faster. So evidently they can increase their strength by a good ways still.. EVERYone increases faster, regardless of how the train. When one person trains a certain way the rest do it and get a huge increase too. Like Goku a sayan using the RoSaT as a kid for like 3 months and getting almost nothing , then using it full a year and increasing by the millions.
So when some fans make the WRONG ASSUMPTION the humans or an alien descent like tien couldn't have powerlevels in the millions they are wrong and can't understand DB increase power logic.
Manga wise Tien has faced Yamcha,Jackie chun (you forgot that one ) Goku, Piccolo Daimao , Drum,Tao Pai Pai(you forgot that one again), 1 Saibeman, Nappa, A 17,Cell 2, Cell Jr., Cell, and a encounter with Buu. Krillin, Manga wise, Dracula man(tien wasn't in the show yet), Goku, Muten Roshi (Jackie Chun), Tambourine, Piccolo, not several Saibemen actually he destroyed several with energy blasts it is different to handle them hand to hand , Nappa, Vegeta(he never fights vegeta one to one), Guldo, Reacoom, Ginyu in Goku's body with gohan's help; Freeza 2nd and final form(you are joking right,to run isn't fight) Cell Jr, Cell, and a encounter with Buu.Ok in the fillers and movies you are right. But if you count as a fight Kuririn being knocked out by a kick everytime ex:nappa, reecom that's OK. Finally tenshinhan's article says tien is human which is a lie and wrong so if you combine the 2 articles people make the wrong assumption tien is a pure human. You are just going by what you see as facts and that is wrong.
Well I will say I am wrong on somethings. Been awhile since I read my mangas. ( I'm deployed overseas.....you can guess where) so I have to look at my mangas again. I am going off memory and not the facts they put in the article. Its just AT focused more on Krillin then Tien and I was going off my knowledge of that. Thanks for the insight. I was not going off that Tien was not a pure human just that with his abilities at first sight after the saiyans appeared fans started to assume Tien could be something else. So thats why people say pure human. After going though my complete memory of the manga it does not say anything about Ki-m but remember it does not have to say something for it to be true and Krillin has show he can use ki in some very creative was. I will say Goku, Piccolo, Gotenks, and Tien are the only ones above or equal to Krillin on using ki in such ways (Remember Gohan, Vegeta, Goten, and Both Trunks used their abilities for pure force and not stratigic). I dont care if Tien or Krillin is stronger. Only care that is ability to use ki and (combined) his provence against foes. Thats why I said he was above the rest. Because against most characters or compared to them Krillin despite his weakness and cowardly ways has shown these to be true. Also the showing of the foes list I was talking about when he lost, got killed or knocked out. Against Freeza he did not run...much lol but he did show Freeza he may have been waeker than him he was strong enough to hold him off. Also Tien beat a saibaman but he did not kill it. Krillin did not fight because he was mad at Yamchu's death he desided to attack all including Nappa and Vegeta. I did not mean Krillin beat anyone just he proven more against enemies thats all. So you have to look at it at a more direct way and not by what is said. the only thing i don't agree with is that saying about him being the strongest human alive. I used it to make a point but I dont agree with it. Ki-m and provence against foes I do. thats all. But thanks for the insight again. Guess i needed a wake up call on my rusty knowledge about good old Tien.Heat P 11:25, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
People like you should be ahead dragon ball project in wikipedia. Keep the good work.
I was part of it but I let it go because of people that wont come to an agreement on thing and are completely one sided. Thanks for the comment. I may return to help. Heat P 15:12, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah that is the problem in dragon ball wikipedia project, they are too one sided, biased and ignore wikipedia rules when they don't like the truth! One last thing about this sentence you wrote"and Yamcha was the first to fall in there help with Gohan against Cell's Kamehameha. But it was Krillin next to Piccolo in that fight after the first knock down." You are wrong in the Gohan against Cell's Kamehameha scenario Yamcha is blown away first, then krillin, then Tenshinhan and finally Piccolo.Check in youtube.
- Oh no no no You got what I meant backward. That is what I meant. After EVERYONE got knockdown the first and I believe second time when there was only two at a time firing on Cell before Cell finally stop them from helping. I know the order they fell first. Sorry for the mix up and saying it the wrong way. Heat P 00:50, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
get their names right
i don't know what source you all are turning to for their english names but you should be looking at the english translation of the cartoons. they don't call him krillin kuririn. they don't call frieza freezer. they don't call bardock burdock. where are you getting all these names from? you should rename Vegeta's article Bejita.
- The subtitles on the Japanese track on FUNimation's DVDs use these names. Takuthehedgehog 18:13, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Name Pun
The current information (Kuririn = Kuri (chestnut) + Lin (from Shaolin) is just speculation, I think. Unless there is a reference for this information, it should be removed. I don't think there is an obvious explanation for Kuririn's name (although regarding the chestnut part, in one picture drawn by Toriyama, Son Goku and Kuririn were riding motorcycles, and Kuririn's motorcycle hub had the kanji for kuri (栗) on it, and Marron is obviously related to chestnuts).
Edededed 04:53, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Kuri is correct. You even see it again in Neko majin, where Kuriza has a chestnut-shaped head. I've never heard of the lin thing though. I've never even heard of the name as Kurilin, tho technically that would be an ok way to romanize it. Onikage725 21:51, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Actually I just found out that "Krillin" is an almost perfect romanization of "Krillin". First of all, the Japenese letter "r" is the equivalent to the English "l". In the cases of double letters, such as "ll" it can be translated in Japanese to "rir". As for the Japanese "ru", this is the equivalent to the English "r". That makes the name "Kuririn" pretty much translates to the English "Krillin".
Also, Kuririn is basically putting two names together kuri is chestnut in Japanese, I believe and from the explanation given in the previous paragraph, the Romaji translation to "Shaolin" is "Shaorin" (pretty much a no brainer). So "Kuririn" would translate to "Chestnut Shaolin" (or probably vice versa, I'm not sure) considering you use the "Shaolin" part as a name, not an adjective. In any case, "Kuririn" is either two words in one, or even a portanameau, and "Krillin" is the romanized spelling of "Krillin" (By the way, I know which issue it is when Akira Toriyama drew Son Goku and Kuririn riding motorcycle hubs with Kuririn's motorcycle having the 'kuri' kanji on it(栗). It was in the English translated manga Dragon Ball Volume #11 and the story was "Goku vs Kuririn:Round 2" or probably Round 1 or Round 3, but it's definitely in that volume, and to be honest, I found all this out today). Uglyguy2006 22:43, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Again, isn't this speculation? Of course, one can surmise that Kuririn's name MIGHT consist of Kuri + (Shao)lin, but unlike many of the other punny names in Dragonball, Kuririn's name's meaning is not obvious to a native Japanese speaker. For example, perhaps Kuririn is just "chestnut" + a funny sound... I don't see any proof either way. As for some of the other points...
- Kuriza doesn't seem to be related to Kuririn, so I don't think he can be used as an argument for or against the meaning of Kuririn's name. (Also since Kuririn's head does not look like a chestnut.) Note that in Dr. Slump, there was a character named Kuribashira, who had a huge chestnut for a head, but this doesn't prove anything with regards to Kuririn.
- Although Toriyama's motorcycle picture does show kuri (栗) on Kuririn's motorcycle, this does not necessarily prove that that is the meaning of Kuririn's name (although it tenuously supports it); for example, in this case, Son Goku has an obvious kanji to use on his bike, but Kuririn does not - Toriyama may have jokingly chosen "kuri" for lack of a "standard" kanji for Kuririn. (This is speculation, too, but I am saying that we don't know the reasons behind anything.)
- Note that nobody in Japan really knows that Shaolin is called "Shaolin," since the kanji (少林) are pronounced "Shorin" in Japan.
- The Japanese "r" is not really equivalent to either the English "l" or "r"; and "rir" doesn't exist as a sound in Japanese, either. In any case, I would defer to Toriyama's own romanization of Kuririn's name (he used it in the Japanese comic several times).
- This is an encyclopedia, so if it is just speculation, we should take it out. Edededed 01:08, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not saying he's related to Kuriza, just showing Toriyama's trend. He tends to name his characters after foods, for one thing. You'll have to give me time to dig, but the whole Kuri thing has been common knowledge in fandom for a very long time now. I've never ever heard the shaolin thing, though I suppose it makes sense. Still, I can't comment on it, cuz it is completely new to me. Oddly enough, if you just want a source, the R. Talsorian RPG commented on Kuri-chestnut I believe. As a fan, I'm loathe to use that for anything regarding canonicity, but if we're just looking to source the article...well it is technically officially licensed by and collaborated with the anime distributor. I believe it is in the first book, under the "Krillin" bio. There's a section called "In Translation" where it goes into original names and puns on the characters. Onikage725 03:16, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- Mmm - well, after thinking about it for a while, Kuririn's having a daughter named Marron is pretty good support for the "chestnut" meaning, since we can see that many families in Dragonball have a theme for names (I'm sorry, but I am not familiar with "R. Talsorian?" - also, I have never read the English books, mostly only the Japanese versions, although I did see some on TV in the US). I guess the big problem is really the Shaolin meaning part, which I can't really find any support for. Edededed 01:18, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry about not finding proof for the Sholin bit but for you to say that part of Kuririn's name is purely speculation shows lack of education on your part. Do you really think I would make all of this up for for the sake of an article? Are you trying to tell me that the Japanese "r" can't be romanized into the English "l"? You have a lot to learn, pal. First of all, I did not just look at the the said character's Japanese name then look at his English name, and sudddenly assume that the letters replaced are equivalent. I said Krillin was a close romanization of Kuririn. Also I'll use another example to verify my point. Arale's romaji name is "Arare". And I'll used non-manga charcter examples if you want. Based on my resources, "Michael" (which is my real name), translates to "Micheru" in Romaji. Here's a source not for Dragoin Ball names but Japanese translation of names, which I think is quite decent as far as sources go (but I might be wrong): [www.angelfire.com/super/karenval/java6.html] There you go. If you look at the the English "l" when it would verify my point. I've even got more examples so again, I don't know what you're talking about (No offence, again. But if you've got a good point without showing just you're own opinion and understanding, bring it forth). Even your "Shorin" argument puts evidence to my point. No offfence, but I really don't know what you're talking about. And on "rir", Isn't Kuririn spelt "K-U-R-I-R-I-N"? If you're saying that "rir" is not a sound, then why would Toriyama bother naming him Kuririn? Doesn't make sense (Or do you think he named him Krillin first?).
Also, the fact that that the "Kuririn" is not an obvious pun on chestnut is not obvious to a native Japanese speaker just proves that first, the pun is not obvious. And second, Akira Toriyama is an intelligent man, and is an expert on puns. Again, on Dr Slump, the character Kuribashira shows even more evidence that "kuri" is translated into "chestnut". What? Just because Kuribashira, Kuririn and Kuriza are not related, so they can't be puns on chestnut? Well, think about just one thing: They're all different mangas! Two of them are joke mangas! Even Onikage pointed out there was a book on the charaters giving translations (even though it's not necessarily very canon) The kanji on Kuririn's motorcycle (Goku vs Kuririn: Round 1) would not be there if his name wasn't a pun on it, and by arguing on Kuririn's name not being a pun on "chestnut" or "Shaolin", you're saying his name is not a pun, which is virtually non-existent in terms of Dragon Ball character names. Also, Goku in Dragon Ball Z Graphic Novel #3 on first meeting Kuririn said: "Your head looks like a chestnut!" to which Kuririn took offense. This is not speculation. You're argument was not thought out very well. What you're asking for is sources. If want sources just ask for them, instead of just saying it's speculation, primarily based on your lack of knowledge and threatening it's removal. I did my reserch. Try looking at Romaji on the Internet, or encyclopedia. And please take time to think about your argument, and the points someone else would make. If you've got evidence that disproves my point, bring it up, but as it stands, Krillin is a romanization of Kuririn, and the "kuri" means chestnut. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Uglyguy2006 (talk • contribs) 13:29, August 28, 2007 (UTC) Sorry about that. I retract my two previous statements about "l"'s and "r"'s in Romaji and their translations. I meant to say that the Japanese "r" sounds similar to the English "l". But the statement remains that "Kuririn" romanized to "Krillin" is a close romanization. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Uglyguy2006 (talk • contribs) 18:23, August 28, 2007 (UTC)
- Whoah, calm down - not trying to fight or anything, just trying to have a sane discussion here. Just a few things - number one, the site that you linked is, well, wrong. For example, inputting "Jonathan" returns "Jonafunu" (wrong). Also note that "Micheru" is NOT the Romaji spelling of Michael. As for "rir", well, it can exist as part of "Kuririn," but not independently (ask a Japanese person to pronounce "rir" and you will get "riru").
- Anyway, I was already convinced about the "kuri" = chestnut part, so... I am really only doubting the Shaolin part at this point. Edededed 01:31, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Forumish... ok
Google test for Krillin vs Kuririn in english leans about 5 to 1 in favour of Kuririn... however, when we add the words dragon ball the odds shift to 10 to 1 in favour of Krillin. WookMuff 00:58, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Krillin's Techniqes
I think we should have a couple of krillin's techniqes on this page does anyone agree? Yea or Nay. Prince Of All Saiyans 15:40, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Krillin's marriage
In the controversy of whether or not Krillin is married to 18, I've decided that he is based on the Main Characters Page found in vols 21-26 of the Dragon Ball Z manga. (I'm new at this and forgot to post an edit summary and I don't know how to get it back on there, any help would be appreciated.) Anyone who tries to revert this edit must give a neutral, verifiable reason why the Main Characters Page of the DBZ manga as published by Viz Manga can't be used as a source before I'll back down on this. Please do so in this discussion and thank you for your time. -- K9feline (talk) 20:47, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
