The Foundation for Family and Life (FFL) is a dissident group led by former leaders of Couples for Christ (CFC). The FFL is a Catholic charismatic group, virtually mirroring the community it had separated from, the Couples for Christ, but unlike CFC, does not fully support poverty reduction. FFL has only been recognized in a limited number of Philippine dioceses, and should not be confused with Couples for Christ.

History

FFL was formally established in August 2007, but had existed previously as the Easter/Playboy Bunnies, later changed to the Easter Group once the group's existence was unceremoniously revealed. Despite their break-away and official separation from the Couples for Christ, FFL claims to be the "true, original CFC".[1]

Organization

The Foundation for Family and Life, taken from the name of CFC's priest ministry, "Priests for Family and Life", has essentially the same organizational structure as Couples for Christ, but does not have any equivalent to the CFC Social Ministries.

Miscellaneous

The FFL has appropriated an original logo of Couples for Christ, and is actively using it to promote the image that FFL is still Couples for Christ. Also, FFL continues to use the name "Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life", although the SEC has denied the recognition of "CFC-FFL" due to the already-existing Couples for Christ organization.

FFL founder and head Frank Padilla (also former CFC Director) incorrectly refers to the original CFC as "CFC-GK" (emphasizing CFC's alleged focus on Gawad Kalinga), "CFC-IC" (referring to what FFL believes to be an unduly elected and unholy, 'sinful' International Council), or "CFC-GMF" (the formal name of Couples for Christ, the CFC Global Mission Foundation). [2]

Couples for Christ has filed a cease and desist order in the Securities and Exchange Commission for FFL to stop using the CFC name, as FFL has formally severed all ties with CFC.[3]
