look at the post in the discussion before you revert, are you part of the fraudlent activity? Is that why you're leaving an advertisment for it up on wikipedia?

I am only concerned with what appears to be unreferenced and apparently controcversial claim. I have no knowledge of the the elections - if you canb verify your claim, feel free to add it, provided you can provide acceptible references. Remember, Wikipedia is not a soapbox. —  Tivedshambo  (t|c) 11:11, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Talyllyn Railway

I'd love to see the TR article get to GA standard and I'm happy to help in any way I can. I have most of the books that are currently cited as "Bibliography" rather than "References". We should try to use these for inline citations where possible. The history section needs a significant overhaul and expansion, and we could really do with adding pictures of all the carriages. I can certainly help with expanding the article text. Sadly I don't get to north Wales very often, and haven't been to Tywyn in nearly a decade, so I probably can't help with pictures. But please let me know if there's anything else I can help with. Best as always, Gwernol 13:35, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I get to that part of the world quite often, as I'm only about three hours drive away, so I'm happy to get photos, particularly when a more intensive service starts. It's a good excuse for me to visit! If you get the chance, I'd recommend coming over next year, as the Corris Railway will be celebrating its 150th anniversary, and various reciprocal visits are planned between the two lines. —  Tivedshambo  (t|c) 16:45, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I saw there were plans to have No. 7 running on the Talyllyn. I'd love to see that. I've been a member of the Corris Railway Society since the early 80s, so I keep in touch with developments there pretty well. I envy you your 3 hour trip - its a bit further from New York :-) On the TR article, I think there's lots of scope for improvement, and I was skimming through various books before work today. I'll try to get cracking on expanding the History and Preservation sections tonight, since there's lots of scope for improvements there. Best, Gwernol 17:10, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bow Street

Dear Tivedshambo

I see you've added a photo to the Bow Street article - if I'd have known you were going to be in my neck-of-the-woods you could have called in at Pen-y-Garn for a cuppa! I was intending to go out later in the year to take a few snaps myself for inclusion, so am glad to see you've got there before me. Just a suggestion, but might it not be better if the photo was further down the page and the info box was at the top? As I'm still not sure about layouts I didn't know if there were any guidelines about this. Anyway see what you think.

Regards (Lepidus Magnus (talk) 12:57, 7 March 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Hi - I was thinking of letting you know that I was lkiely to be in the area last weekend, (I stopped in a B&B in Borth) but I was unsure when or if I'd be free. I'm in that area quite often, so I'll let you know next time I'm around. I've got photos of Llandre, Capel Garn and Rhyd-y-Pennau which I'll upload sometime as well.
The photograph is included as a parameter of the infobox, so the position is fixed. It could be included separately further down, though personally I think it's better to see at least one picture when you open a page. However feel free to move it if you think it would be better elsewhere. —  Tivedshambo  (t|c) 15:32, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Tivedshambo

I see you’ve now uploaded the other photos like you said you would, which are great. I’m more than happy for the one of Bow Street to stay in the info box if that’s general practice. Do you know if there are any example pages for villages/towns on Wikipedia showing prescribed layout, section headings, etc? As I don’t have much time to trawl through page after page of guidelines, examples for me to simply follow would be best. Please do let me know next time you’re passing through and maybe we could meet up at Rhydypennau in the craft centre for a coffee? One question – what is the licence tag you’ve used on the photos? I’ve just tried uploading a picture on to my Commons account but am a bit confused at what to put. Would you take a look and let me know? http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Blanche_Parry.jpg Many thanks.

Regards Lepidus Magnus (talk) 16:20, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Infobox UK place to see examples of places which use that template, though there are many places that don't. It's a good standard to follow though, as it does standardise the layout.
I use a personalised variant of the {{Information}} template on Commons, which incorporates the GFDL tag. The licence you've got for the Blanche Parry image looks fine. Hope this helps. —  Tivedshambo  (t|c) 22:51, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Tivedshambo

Many thanks for the link - I will try and look at the examples listed here to get a feel for a standard layout to follow. Thanks also for checking the licence for the Blanche Parry photo. I wonder if you could suggest a licence for some old photos I've scanned and that I'd like to put up on Wikipedia. I have asked for help at the following: Media_copyright_questions#Scanning_Old_Photos, but would appreciate any help you could give.

Regards Lepidus Magnus (talk) 13:04, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It depends how old the photographs are. If it's more than 70 years old after the death of the photographer, you can use {{PD-old}}. If the photographer is unknown, I think it's safe to assume that anything over 100 years old is public domain, (see Image:Talyllyn1904.jpg for example), but it's worth getting an expert to confirm that. If the image is more recent, you will need to get permission from the copyright holder. —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 13:17, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good job, its about time you went for an RfA. You should have asked me to nominate you - I'd have been honoured. Anyway, best of luck, Gwernol 16:56, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I saw this edit summary in my watchlist and thought you'd changed your mind :-) —  Tivedshambo  (t|c) 12:00, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about that :-) No change of mind here, trust me. Its going very well so far, I hope it continues on its current track. Gwernol 12:10, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've just patrolled this page, and added my oppose to the talk page. Druge was not very civil, was he? Mjroots (talk) 11:21, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA - Toddst1

Hi Tivedshambo, thanks for supporting my RfA, which passed with 42 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutrals. Special thanks goes to my nominator, Kakofonous. I'm pleased that the Wikipedia community has trusted me with the mop and I take it very seriously. And thank you for the congratulatory note too! Cheers! Your RfA

Congratulations, your RfA has been closed as successful and you are now an administrator. Good luck with the mop! The Rambling Man (talk) 16:33, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can I just add my personal congratulations. I'm very pleased to see you get the mop. I'm sure you will use it well and wisely. If you ever have questions, you are more than welcome to ask me. Very best, Gwernol 17:49, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Drat! I knew there was something i forgot to support. Good luck. Simply south (talk) 18:24, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Glad you'll continue working on Talyllyn Railway - we definitely need your help there. When I got the admin bit, I found it did interrupt my article building, and I've recently been trying to redress that with more article construction work. That said, admin work is important too - I'm sure you'll find a good balance. Best, Gwernol 20:29, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Zedla RfA

Sorry for the delay, just saying a quick thank you for your support and participation in my RfA which passed & closed earlier this week. Hope to continue earning the trust of everyone as an admin. – Zedla (talk) 03:17, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of my Wiki.

what was up with deleting my wiki? did i do something to you?

i specifically said it was under construction, and some jackass came along and deleted the whole thing. turns out it was you.

mind explaining why you just go around deleting other people's work?

GA on Talyllyn Railway

Hi Tivedshambo. I think we're finally managing to beat the Talyllyn Railway article into something approaching reasonable shape. I feel we should start thinking about a GA review for it. What do you think? I've added a few suggestions for improvements to the talk page. Is there any prospect of you being able to get to Tywyn and take a few photos in the near future? Best, Gwernol 17:10, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Admin

I see your a new admin, and as thus you seem to have misunderstood speedy deletion policy. I highly recommend that you take the time to review it. There were MANY pages created last night that should have been deleted and I noticed you took the tag off them. This is not an attack but rather a coaching session.Thright (talk) 17:21, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
