Angela Petrelli's power?

Are we really going to use a TV Guide Gossip columnist for our sitings? I think we need something a little more substantial than that. I'm changing the "powers" reference until we get a real confermation of her power. Padillah 16:50, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

So, it has been confirmed that Angela Petrelli has a power, but it hasn't been directly spelled out for the viewers. However, one can make a very good logical deduction that her power is clairvoyance. The one power that Peter Petrelli has used that does not have a clear benefactor is his clairvoyance visions (visions of him flying, shared dreams with Charles Deveaux, etc.). Since we know that Peter has the ability to copy powers of people he is in close contact with and he has clearly been in close contact with his mother. Since clairvoyance is the only power that Peter has demonstrated that does not have a clear benefactor, it is reasonable to assume that it comes from his mother. Logoskakou 19:22, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

That seems like OR to me. We cannot say Angela has clairvoyance just because it is "reasonable to assume." We need real, definitive proof, an official statement, etc. before we can say she has clairvoyance. Arwen undomiel 19:57, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

It's also possible that Peter's clairvoyance power came from his father. The father's ability to see the future might have contributed to his depression and 3 attempts at suicide (the last one of which finally succeeded). Other "gifted" children that we've seen in the show (Micah, Claire) have had both parents with special powers, so it's possible that both of Nathan and Peter's parents also have powers. Linderman said he used to belong to a group of people who had powers. Would it be much of a stretch to assume the Petrelli parents were part of this group? And when do we get to see Mrs. Petrelli use her powers?

True, true. We're making assumptions here. She seemed to indicate in “.07%” that she had powers, but of course did not specify. Sneaky.

Now, also along this genetics line, shouldn't Nathan's other kids (Claire's half-siblings) have powers? Or is that only guaranteed if both parents are powered?

Mr Pettelli (nathan and peters dad) doesnt have powers read the novels war buddies.

I have read the graphic novel "War Buddies" and couldn't find anything saying one way or the other about Nathan and Peter's Dad having a power or not. Can you share a quote or something from War Buddies that might help? Thanks! KC 17:47, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

I think his obvious assuption comes from "Dallas" Petrelli's reaction to Linderman's power. The assumption runs thusly: If "Dallas" had powers he wouldn't have been so taken aback when "Austin" displayed his powers.

However, it's entirely plausable that "Dallas"s powers either hadn't manefested yet or were innocuous enough not to stand out to "Dallas" as powers (i.e. Charlie's eidetic memory). Padillah 18:22, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Just a rumor, but there are a handful of message boards saying her power is to speak to the dead.

Ok, I just saw the episode where Claire meets her grandmother for the first time on the SciFi marathon, and I'm almost positive that Angela admits to Claire that she has some sort of ability. Until I came here and noted that there was a controversy, it seemed obvious to me that Angela was telling Claire that she (Angela) has the same ability as Claire, but I guess it's not that clear cut? Angela told Claire that Clair "get[s] that from me", which I have always interpreted as her rude mouth. LOL! So, no, it's not clear cut at all (I've seen theories on prophetic dreams, persuasion, teleportation, speaking to/with the dead, astral projection, etc.). The writers/creators of the show have said that they plan to reveal her power at some point in "Season Two: Generations". We'll just have to wait until her power is confirmed. After watching the last episode I believe that She has the power of persuasion. You look at the way way she controls Nathan, and somewhat Peter. Angela's power isn't absolute though. I don't think the current "Powers and Abilities" section is accurate. Can we at least add a comment that this is speculation? It's never been confirmed on the show that she has a superhuman ability to persuade people -- all the instances mentioned could simply be normal human powers of persuasion and manipulation. (Nathan and Peter listen to her because she is their mother. Claire gave her the phone because she was afraid. Etc.) The fact that Claire and Nathan defied her in the finale should be proof enough that she doesn't have an Eden-like ability to control people's actions. NicoleWiki 9:17, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

The section about her "powers" was entirely speculation, and thus didn't belong in the article. I agree that what she has demonstrated so far was normal manipulation and persuasion, not a power. The best example I've seen of her "power" would be in the season finale when she knew right after the fact that Linderman was dead. I know someone could have told her, but it was so soon after that I don't think anyone would have had the time. I guess she could talk to the dead, but that seems hard to believe, even for the standards of Heroes. I would have to go with the first suggestion: clairvoiance. She can see things for which she is not present. However, I think this has nothing to do with Peter's visions of the future. I would attribute that to Charles Deveaux or perhaps Mr. Petrelli. Do we really need a Powers and Abilities section detailing that she has no powers? Failure to state she has powers should cover it. theres pretty decent hints that she has powers, the most obvious being in "the kindness of strangers" when she tells parkman "if they keep digging they will find out about all of us and waht we can do" when she confesses to killing kaito. its pretty significant that she included herself in the group. --Late Leo 23:39, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I know this isn't an open discussion about Angela Petrelli and speculation but I just HAVE TO put my two cents in. I am now 90 percent sure that her power is to evoke memories or bring about an understanding of some sort. Not necessarily persuasion or clairvoyance as much as "awakening hidden thoughts/desires". This would correspond directly with all the instances she's been shown influencing or otherwise manipulating people (making Nathan wish to pursue presidency in spit of the evils (his dream of being a great leader), shaping Claire to submit for a time(her wanting to be with her real family), and in the latest episode she brought back Peter's memory of at least her, something as yet not done, not even with pictures of his brother. I think it's made vague so we don't know for sure, but I can almost guarantee its going to be some "hidden dream/thoughts awakening power", just not sure what the proper term for that is.TomUsedToBeRob 04:22, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Of course because seeing his mother couldn't possibly evoke emotion or spark memory. It must be a power! It's not like Peter has already absorbed several different powers that could help his restore his memory (if he knew he had them). It must be Angela's power! Of course it could be OR. Although a minor occurrence in the series that probably won't help solve anything, in the episode where she's being questioned by Matt in the hospital, she says in her mind: "...they'll find out about us and what we can do...", and judging by her use of the word 'us', including herself in the group of people with <insert "what we can do" here>. Angela's conversation with Heidi in "Four Months Ago" definitely suggests some sort of power. The shots focused heavily on her physical contact with Heidi, indicating there may be more there than meets the eye. The obvious power that could have been in use is persuasion, which someone mentioned above. Of course, it would still be OR and shouldn't be added to the article, but someone devoted enough might go back and see if she made physical contact on the other instances when she "persuaded" people. In "How To Stop An Exploding Man," Angela puts her hands on Nathan's shoulders and says something like "It can't be stopped." When Peter reads Nathan's mind, all he hears is "it can't be stopped" over and over again.

special training

someone added a section called special training. i dont think that is varifiable and needs to be deleted. someone said she knew parkman was in her head based on some training that he and bennet received from the company. but i beleive that she knew parkman was in her head because he repeated her thoughts saying that they had done something terrible and were getting revenge. angela has been around heroes all her life. she probably already know about parkman since the company abducted him in the past first season and has a record of him and his powers on the primatech website at heroes 360. and since angela is connected with the company, i feel that section of special training is not encyclopeic enough for this section. --76.168.220.243 05:17, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Powerless

Can we assume that Angela Petrelli is talking to a man specifically? (Under the pargraph "Generations"- "She also comments that the man has just opened Pandora's Box.") It's possible that it was a woman. There's no evidence to back up that it was a man that she was talking to. I know its small, but maybe its should be something to be looked into, Combee loves me (talk) 06:36, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
