The WikiProjects and Manual of Style lay out how lists (bibliographies, roles, etc.) should be presnted, and these are almost always in the form of simple bulleted lists unless they're too complex to allow for that. There are various reasons for that; ease of editing is primary, though consistency and aesthetics play a part. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:04, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to see you

[edit]

Thanks so much, Arwen, for your warm welcome and those nice links which are really useful for me. Hope to have a chance to collaborate with you some day hereafter. Galadree-el 03:13, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, Arwen. I'm so lucky to have a new gracious friend who are always ready to help me as I newly arrive here. You are so kind to provide me such valuable links and now put forth to answer my queries. No words can describe how happy am I to receive your message. As you know, I'm a LOTR die hard fan, and I first approached this project because I found Galadriel's article in such bad state (Galadriel is my favorite, I assume Evenstar is also yours). Don't worry that you didn't contribute much to LOTR articles because Star Wars and Harry Potter are equivalently interesting and take your time enough. However, I'm looking forward to see you in some LOTR-related discussion.
Oh, I have a question. I want to know how many criteria for writing fictional character, or fiction in general. I have problems with the "past tense" and "present tense" in galadriel article (discussion here). I found a guideline which states that we must use present tense for fiction synopses but then an editor point out another guideline stating using "past tense" for in-universe material. I don't want to reiterate other mistakes, so please help me if you don't mind. Best wishes. Galadree-el 10:04, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hardly see how my addition to the Draco Malfoy page was inappropriate. Saidophelia 18:24, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm back :)

[edit]
Great thanks! ^_^

Happy to talk to you gain, dear Arwen. I was on a vacation for 1 week so I couldn't come back to reply you soon. My sincere apology. Thanks so much for answering my question. Actually, I didn't expect for a more detailed reply like that. You've help me much sweep away my ignorance of Wikipedia.

Uhm, what's next? Ah, I want to have a nice, hmm, signature like yours and I want it to link to my talk page. But, (sad a minute) I have tried a lot and I still haven't found out how to fix my sig. Would you please show me, Arwen? Galadree-el 04:34, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The signature thing is so interesting. I've thought some design but I don't know much about code, so I'm so happy if you do it for me. Uhm, I don't accept the warning, I'll sue to you for doing bad work. Here is my dreaming sig:
  • Because I have no userpage (in fact, I haven't come up with what I should write on my userpage), so my whole signature will link to my talk page.
  • Colors: "Peru #CD853F" for Galad and "Chocolate #D2691E" for "ree-el".
  • I have a list of fonts. You don't need to use them all, but in case one not fits well you will have a replacement: Moonbeam; BlockDogBack; One Stroke Script LET; Abbey Medium Extended; Moonstar; Lucida Handwriting. (^_^)

OK then. You don't have to follow all those criteria above strictly. You can change anything if you think it's better. Wait for your reply. Have a nice day. Galadree-el 08:53, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First, wish you a fabulous day, my dear friend Arwen! What an interesting coincidence that Lucida handwriting is also your chosen sig's font. I didn't realize this until it appeared on wikipedia! OK, after some minutes playing with the sandbox, I have changed a little bit compared to your original version and this is the result. Comment please. Galadree-el 04:12, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Whaaaaaaat? So you can't see the lovely "Moonbeam" font on your laptop? :( OMG, how it looks like? (my sig, I mean) If it appears to be something stupid I have to change right away, regretfully. Galadree-el 02:48, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi there. Your username is listed on the WikiProject Harry Potter participants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. Your name has therefore been moved to a "potentially inactive" list. If you still consider yourself an active WikiProject Harry Potter editor, please move your name from the Potentially inactive list to the Active Contributors list. You may also wish to add {{User WP Harry Potter}} to your userpage, if you haven't done so already. Conversely, if you do not wish to be considered a member of the WikiProject, leave your name where it is and it will be moved to the Inactive Contributors section. If you wish to make a clean break with the Project you may move your name to the Known to have left section. Many thanks.

List of Mandalorians

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article List of Mandalorians, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. TonyBallioni 23:32, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brainstorm

[edit]

Here's a good suggestion. We could delete the articles like "Minor Star Wars characters",etc. and redirect characters like Stass Allie over to Wookieepedia.--Jedi Kasra (talk) 03:17, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've listed this article for peer review because it right now seems oddly cluttered and, despite my adding of a lot of references, it lacks reliable source citations. Although I've already requested another peer review for another article, as long as it helps the articles get better, I've got the time. Any helpful comments are appreciated, as this should help me in expanding other Star Wars-centric articles (particularly bios like that of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, also in dire need of certain expansion). Thanks. — Cinemaniac (talkcontribs) 03:39, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed an unnecessarily offensive expletive

[edit]

Hi, Grey Maiden. Thanks for the Welcome. BTW, I'm not completely new to Wikipedia; unfortunately my harddrive crashed and I can't remember the password for my old username User:Sand777, and the e-mail to reset the password isn't getting through the spam filter or something like that, and there is no way to change the e-mail address unless I can log in first. So I am locked out and I had to give up User:Sand777 and start over with the new name.

I believe my edit to the LOTR article was not in the spirit of censorship but rather in the spirit of improving the readability of the article in accordance with the profanity policy. I have added a long discussion to the Lord of the Rings talk page to explain why. Please check it out and let me know what you think.  :)

Warmest regards (and good luck in school), Sanddune777 (talk) 04:37, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Great Jedi Purge

[edit]
An editor has nominated Great Jedi Purge, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Great Jedi Purge (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:29, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the Heroes (TV series) talkpage and give us an honest peer review. The page has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at the Heroes Wikiproject some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. We have all worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. I you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. New Image for Jacen Solo

[edit]

Hello, Grey Maiden. Here are a few links to good images of Jacen Solo as of 40 ABY. The first image link reflects him before his fall, the second is an image right after he took the title of Darth Caedus, and the last one reflects his current position of Dark Lord of the Sith.

[1] [2] [3]

I like the third one better, even though it is on Wookieepedia's article, since, like I said, it reflects his current position, and it would really seem petty to choose another image that does not fit his position as Darth Caedus just for the sake of not being like, or having the same image in the infobox as, Wookieepedia. Thanks.--Jedi Kasra (talk) 17:30, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Uploading an image

[edit]

I created the page on a japanese classical pianist, Fumiko Shiraga. Since I wanted to post an image, I e-mailed her asking for a picture, which she sent to me by e-mail. I could not find the appropriate way to upload the image, and I don't know if I should ask Ms. Shiraga for a formal permit to use the archive. She sent the image in response to a specific request for a picture for the article about her in Wikipedia.

It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!

Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!

Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you!
