Noriko

Do you know who are the girls who locked up Noriko Nakagawa in the toilet stall? If so, I can add that picture to their articles too, if they are in "the program" WhisperToMe 15:29, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen their names somewhere, can't remember them though... There's at least Fumiyo (on the right), the girl who got knifed in the forehead in the classroom. I'll try to make a Web search to find out their names. I'll post them here and on the image's page. --Henrickson 18:35, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm linking this to Fumiyo's. Are Yoshimi Yahagi and Hirono Shimizu among the bullies too? WhisperToMe 06:07, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I found their names, and the meanings of the writing on the wall as well!

"Who were the girls who locked Noriko in the bathroom? What was the writing on the bathroom wall?"

The girls were Fumiyo Fujiyoshi (she of the knife in the forehead), Mayumi Tendo (arrow in the neck), and Yoshimi Yahagi (hung herself).

The four black characters on the gravestone read "Nakagawa Noriko" (Japanese style, of course).

In purple on the upper left, written in katakana (unusual, as it should be in hiragana, but probably an affectation by kids and teens), is "chibi," which as many anime fans know means "small," "little," "dwarf," "runt," or, yes, "shrimp."

And in green, on the upper right is the kanji for "worm" or "insect," which can be pronounced "musi."

In brown on the lower left, again in katakana, is "busu"--the same word which Mitsuko calls her later: "ugly."

And in blue on the lower right, in kanji and hiragana, is "Shine!!"--no, not the English word, but Shih-neh, which basically means (in imperative form) "Die!!".

From this, I can make out that what the girls were yelling was "Nakagawa Noriko, chibi, musi, busu, shine!"--confirmed by the script found in the back of the Complete Guidebook tie-in publication."

Manga requests

Try to get at least one pic per character - If possible, you can get photos of Shuya first. See if you can get scenes that are similar to the movie scenes for comparison purposes...

E.G. One showing Takako dying in the manga to mirror the film death. WhisperToMe 06:30, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are approximately 200 pages per manga volume, and there are 15 of them. 200 × 15 = 3000 pages, which is quite a lot. I'll try to find some good pics, starting with the main characters. --Henrickson 02:24, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Manga names

After seeing... http://www.tokyopop.com/S-1132/

1. Is Ryoko Ms. Anno's given name? Or is it a different name?

2. Is Oki's name romanized as Ooki in this version? WhisperToMe 06:01, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Keiko Onuki/Inoue

I found out that Shogo's girlfriend, in the novel, has the last name Onuki. I just got a copy of the book from a Barnes and Noble. Is she Onuki in the manga? Or is she Inoue in the manga? WhisperToMe 19:06, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly believe (but not 100% sure) that Keiko's family name is Inoue in the manga version of Battle Royale. Let me search the relevant chapters for confirmation...
If it's indeed Inoue and not Onuki, we must create a new article, "Keiko Onuki", copy all text & images from "Keiko Inoue" to "Keiko Onuki", make a redirect link in "Keiko Inoue" to "Keiko Onuki", and point out in the "Keiko Onuki" article that Keiko's family name in the manga is Inoue and not Onuki. Can you do that? (After I finish searching the 300+ pages and confirm it to you) --Henrickson 04:18, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it seems you've already done so (or something similar). :) --Henrickson 04:24, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I did that :) WhisperToMe 17:59, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, Keiko's scene is in Volume 13. That MAY contain her manga last name. If the last mame is Inoue, I would like to know what her kanji is. WhisperToMe 21:03, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chengdu Super-10

Hi, I just edited the Chengdu Super-10 article with added refrences, would like your view on the edits.

many thanks. Faraz 01:16, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I partially reject them. Reasons:
  • According to http://www.sinodefence.com/airforce/fighter/j10specifications.asp the J-10A is the current in-service single seater. I reverted the designation back to J-10C.
  • There are some minor punctuation errors in the text you added.
  • "Aircraft" does not take an 's' in plural. 1 aircraft, 2 aircraft, 3 aircraft, etc. That's why I put the [sic] tag, since it's quoted text.
  • I removed some useless, duplicate words.
  • I made correction to some words' spellings.
Thank you your interest in this aircraft! --Henrickson 18:17, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your corrections and views. The reason why I chose designation J-10A was because the USCC website explains this aircraft in some detail but to my shock the designation given to the aircraft was J-10A maybe because it was written in 2004 anyways J-10C or J-10A it is a high calibre 5th generation stealth aircraft. Fair use rationale for Image:BR2 WildSeven GroupPose.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:BR2 WildSeven GroupPose.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Replaceable fair use Image:MiG 1-44 3-view.gif

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:MiG 1-44 3-view.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Megapixie 15:11, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MRCA Picture

Thanks for the extensive cleanup work on the Indian MRCA Competition page. It was much needed. Also, Thanks for creating and uploading it. Great piece of work I must say. However, I'm a bit worried that people may confuse the picture as an official logo for the MRCA Tender... do you think that we should change the picture a bit, or alternately, we could add a disclaimer to the caption. Sniperz11 05:53, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm open to all suggestions. The font used, Arial, is a pretty generic, versatile and widespread font. I've studied typography, and can firmly say that this font is nothing fancy or special compared to other fonts. Surely, if the MRCA competition had an official logo(type), I would've used it. But for instance, Arial will remain in use, and should be considered a generic font. --Henrickson 06:15, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problem with the font...its pretty good. I was only talking about the whole image in general. I was just a bit worried that people would think that the image was the official logo/emblem for the MRCA tender... anyway, I have added a disclaimer on the MRCA page, so I think that should do it. Just for curiosity, I was wondering where you got the 3 view pictures... they're pretty nice. Sniperz11 10:03, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I forgot the sites... All 3-views were found by Google search. (Search = <aircraft name> 3-view) I simply retraced them, scaled them and placed them as they are in the illustration. The roundels are simply vector shapes (3 filled circles). Any illusion of an "official" MRCA logo is purely coincidential and unintentional! And thanks for the addition to the caption in the article. --Henrickson 20:20, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problems... great job I must say. Sniperz11 05:10, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mild Seven logo.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Mild Seven logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:53, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MRCA Comparison table

Thanks a ton for adding the Comparison table. That was an amazing piece of work. As you probably know, the article has obtained a B rating from the peer review. Hopefully, with our continued improvement, we'll be able to get it to at least GA or A class.

I would like your opinion on a few changes to the table that I think would improve it.

  1. Max speed could only expressed in Mach number. IMO, there is no need for speed in kph or mph as well.
  2. Range in km. Other units are less commonly used, at least by lay-people, and will only serve to confuse
  3. Source for cost values would be good.
  4. I will remove the ????s from the blank cells, since that will improve readability.

Thanks again, for all your help. Sniperz11 02:37, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I only copied the data directly from each aircraft's Wikipedia article, with (almost) no changes. Any necessary changes to clarify the data or make it more uniform would be much welcome. (I suggest putting metric units first, then imperial ones inside the parentheses.)
If you can find the missing data (the ?????s), feel free to add it! --Henrickson 02:43, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure will... As for putting the metric units first, I've already done that. I need your opinion about removing some less used units (like mph or kts for range). P.S. Please Please Please reply on the others talk page. Replying on your own talk page makes it tough to reply. Cheers. Sniperz11 16:03, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Aurora concept AdrianMann 1.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Aurora concept AdrianMann 1.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information.

Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. Image:Chengdu J-10 3-view.gif listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Chengdu J-10 3-view.gif, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Megapixie 07:01, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The table was a nice addition to the article. That, and the reformatting, really added to the quality of the presentation. Much appreciated mate. Cyclonius 01:36, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome!
A few more things still need to be done. I've only laid out the "foundation" or "road map" for improvements. Abbreviations need to be spelled out, the table cells need better sizes and background colors, the "unknown" platforms need to be found out (I'm a bit too lazy to search for them myself), etc. --Henrickson User page | User talk | Contribs 04:30, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Super10s vs F15s.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Super10s vs F15s.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:Super10s vs F15s.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Super10s vs F15s.jpg.

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Chengdu Super-10, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Chengdu Super-10

An editor has nominated Chengdu Super-10, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chengdu Super-10 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:03, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Helpful Advice for Chinese Images?

Hello Henrickson, I noticed that you did an excellent job with the Type 07 camoflage page, especially with the images. I admit that I'm not terribly experienced when it comes to Wikipedia but I have written a couple of articles on PLA hardware as well but bots constantly delete even though I'm pretty sure my images are copyright free under Chapter 1, Article 5, Subsection 2 of the Copyright Law of the PRC (at least according to the translations I have read, my Mandarin is very, very bad and I also cannot read simplified) as they are images from news websites and Government websites. I could use some advice on how to prevent them from doing so. Semi-Lobster (talk) 11:58, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there's not much I can say. I'll let you use one of my image description pages as a template. Just change whatever needs to be changed:
