James Troisi (born July 3, 1988 in Adelaide) is an Australian striker born with a Italian father and a Greek mother.He plays for Newcastle United in the English Premier League and also plays for the Australian national team. Recently James Troisi competed for the full Australian national team in goaless friendly against Singapore.[1]
Troisi signed his first professional contract with Newcastle United on January 10, 2007 keeping him at the club until June 2008. Troisi is yet to make his senior debut for Newcastle although he has been on the bench for the first team in both Premier League and UEFA Cup matches.
After a successful season with the Newcastle reserve side, Troisi made his debut for the Australian U-23 team, the 'Olyroos', on 18th April 2007 against Saudi Arabia in an Olympic qualifier. He followed up a good performance against the Saudis with a goal in the all-important clash with Iran in his hometown of Adelaide.
Troisi will be a fringe player of the senior side for the new Premier League season but showed promising signs in Newcastle United's pre-season friendlies, including getting two assists against Hartlepool United.
