Edward Francis Carey (born 1832, died September 9, 1908) was a politician in Alberta, Canada and a municipal councillor in Edmonton.

Biography

Carey was born in London, Ontario in 1832. He went to California in 1849 owing to the California Gold Rush. He later moved to Peace River Country in 1864 before moving south to Edmonton during the 1870s. Once in Edmonton, he founded the settlement's first general store under the name Norris & Carey, which he managed until his retirement in 1894.

In 1892, Carey was elected as an alderman to Edmonton's first Town Council, finishing third of fourteen candidates (the top six were elected). He did not seek re-election in 1893, and did not engage in politics thereafter.

Carey died September 9, 1908. He was survived by one son and one daughter.
