The City Book Trilogy was written for adult readers and was under the name Darren O'Shaughnessey originally, before the pen name Darren Shan was used for his children's books. The third book was never published and they are now out of print. They were published by Orion Publishing Group.

The books are due to be reprinted. The first, renamed Procession of the Dead, was released in March 2008. They will be slightly edited, and Darren Shan will not put his real name on the front, to try to prevent children from reading them. They will be republished under the new pen-name of D.B Shan.
