I am a teacher in California

I am trying to help them understand that Wikipedia is not a valid source for information. Most students don't quite get this, since pretty much everybody can update this Wiki. There are few scholars that update information or include sources. I was hoping to be able to show them that they can't actually trust all of their source for research on the internet.

Can you please let one thing go?

Thanks, Chris —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cp1955 (talkcontribs) 05:12, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks; I would like both objects please. Thankyou for your help. I actually tried once before to copy the source, but it looked so jumbled I couldn't figure it out.(*is not that good at code*)— dαlusquick link / Improve 20:58, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you attempting to delete more of my pages?

What is your problem? if those pages were so inapprpriate then why didn't you delete them before now? and please actually give me an answer to the question "What do you think is wrong with nearly all of my articles?"

What about refferences?

You said that I shouldn't use copyrighted material; that makes since but how do I know that if I don't you won't just start deleting my pages for lack of refferences?

elan school

What is your connection with elan school? I speak the truth and you want to delete it? That poor girl would not have ran off and got murder, hadn't not been for the saily abuse she endured at elan school. I think all parents should know of this horrible tragedy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by IH8ELAN (talkcontribs) 07:14, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And one from me

(Seemed appropriate to place this under the pre-existing heading "Thanks". Is that wrong? If so, erk, sorry)

Cheers for clearing that up for me. I thought it was that, but when I tried it it didn't work at first. Turned out I'd put the damn things in backwards XD. --Lichtonatus (talk) 11:31, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting of IGE article

You reverted changed made to the following article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IGE

The majority of this article is a copy&paste that was originally posted on mmobux.com at http://www.mmobux.com/articles/760/the-rise-and-fall-of-ige

Since Wikipedia states: "Do not copy text from other websites without a GFDL-compatible license. It will be deleted."

I felt it would be right to delete this. Can you please look into this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.8.84.64 (talkcontribs)

Hmm..no, we shouldn't be asking more users for participation. He has spammed 9 users with more or less the same message. And this is no content dispute, he's either trolling or simply dumb. I responded to all of his concerns and fixed everything he wanted, and all he did was delete my messages and went on to ask 9 users for help, as well as giving me three vandalism warnings. Yes, it's pretty damn frustrating. Herunar (talk) 16:51, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting?

Do you intend to just revert the incorrectly formatted addition that I removed or are you going to leave it incomplete? I removed the info because of formatting issues, you added it back with the same bad formatting. KellyAna (talk) 21:17, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I only meant to reinsert the next episode title, I didn't notice the formatting issue until I looked again and changed browsers. You reverted three edits: [3] [4] [5]. I just reinserted the first one, but I see what you meant and I corrected it here. I actually thought you were referring to the second and third edits in your edit summary, but accidentally reverted the first edit, too. Eh, it's all fixed now. I think the two castaways to Exile has confused people. It used to be easy enough to just copy and paste the next episode, but now you have be careful this season. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:56, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Papsmears

I realize the article for this band was very poorly written, but I do wish to re-write it, they are a fairly significant up and coming group, and i have several sources i can cite to prove this, including interviews with them in several reputable publications, if you will grant me permission to restart this article.

Wikipedia List of Notable Egyptologists

The ongoing editing of (and occasional tampering with) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Egyptologists has omitted or removed a number of notable Egyptologists who were originally listed and now contains the names of a number of individuals who are virtually unknown in the field. It might serve the readers of Wikipedia better to simply provide a link to a site such as the international directory of Egyptologists: http://www.iae.lmu.de/iae/ide/ide.htm

Professor Richard Wilkinson Editor, Directory of North American Egyptologists. http://www-oi.uchicago.edu/OI/DEPT/RA/ABZU/EGDIR_INTRO.HTML —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.244.60.76 (talk) 23:27, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since I know very little about the field, I will defer to you about if the link should be added. You are welcome to add it in to an external links section. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:55, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. It's difficult in that the list itself has problems and needs to be adjusted but a complete list would be just way too long. I'd be happy to help sort it out if you wish. Please feel free to email me at egypt@u.arizona.edu if you would like to work on it together. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.244.60.76 (talk) 00:55, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe the best way to take care of the problem (if you would want to use your wiki editing experience as I have none!) would be to simply put a statement under the current header paragraph that a complete list of Egyptologists can be found at http://www.iae.lmu.de/iae/ide/ide.htm then change the heading "Notable Egyptologists" to "Egyptologists in Wikipedia" and have the list with a short statement such as "The following individuals, or others, have added biographical summaries to Wikipedia: This would solve the problem of the glaring omissions as well as the questionable additions. RW —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.244.60.76 (talk) 01:09, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've made some changes to the article that might help clarify that the list is incomplete. Your wording suggestions are not quite the usual style, but I think I have added in wording that follows the spirit of what you are trying to say. A lot of the lists of people on Wikipedia are often incomplete because the general style of Wikipedia is to include only individuals with articles on Wikipedia. It cuts back on people adding vanity entries or not-yet-notable people. So I am sure that some notable Egyptologists are missing as nobody has yet to write an article about them.
Upon further reading, a link to the IAE was already at the bottom of the article, but I changed it to link directly to the IDE. As for editing Wikipedia, it's quite easy as you have already figured out how to leave comments. Editing an article is not that much different. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:59, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
