WSLC-FM / 94.9 Star Country is a Country radio station serving the Roanoke - Lynchburg and the New River Valley area of Virginia and West Virginia, in the United States. WSLC has an ERP of 98,000 watts. WSLC currently ranks 2nd in Roanoke-Lynchburg radio market (as of the SPRING '07 ARBITRON Quarterly Report).

The station is owned by Mel Wheeler, Inc., along with "K92", "Q99", and WFIR-AM located in the same market. In the Marion, Virginia area, WSLC deals with a tremendouse amount of interference from co-channel "Electric 94.9", which broadcasts from Greeneville, Tennessee.

History

  • Was at one time WPVR, first with a Beautiful Music format for many years, which evolved into soft A/C, and later switching to "Arrow 94.9" with a classic rock format.
  • Mel Wheeler, Inc. bought the station in 2000, along with WXLK-FM, WSLQ-FM, and WFIR-AM
