Current News

[edit]

Major update to my userboxes and a whole new layout for them. Major revamp of this and all my {user} pages is complete. I'm dealing with the Counter Vandalism Unit too.

After a long dry spell, I'm going to be coming on more frequently and editing pages for the Cleanup Taskforce again.

About Me

[edit]

The facts are these: I'm a writer/technical engineer/information analyst from the USA. This account was created primarily as a means of correcting the occasional grammar, spelling and factual errors I happened to stumble across, but I appear to have accidentally let myself become more involved with the project than I originally intended. I don't have a particular specialist subject, but I tend to gravitate towards film and television articles in the wee hours.

Alphabeter

[edit]

Alphabeter is a user id that was coined by a multiple pseudonymned writer in 1987. It has been used nearly exclusively by her since the early days of the ISCABBS and eWorld in the late 1980s. It means "one who uses alphabets".

Alphabeter often uses the sig file of: Writing is a lot like sex. At first you do it because you like it. Then you're doing it for a few close friends and people you like. But if you're any good...you end up doing it for money.

Alphabeter was an early adopter of wikipedia and regularly contributes to wikimedia projects.

Personal to-do list [edit]

Specific tasks I need to tackle:

  • Consolidate citations. Many now redundant.
  • Punch-up the lead section to reflect actual content of article.
  • Give it all a thorough copy-edit, especially the recent additions to the filming section.
  • Find the color guard photograph referenced by Macdonald in the filming section; incorporate it into section with appropriate critical commentary (note: author of cited article doesn't know which photo it is either). Maybe check some Canadian photo-buff forums?
  • Look through Commons for other useful images to add (already found a couple of promising ones of the Rosslyn Metro station).
  • Copy edit
  • Finish writing properly-cited Themes section (from Dreams and visions onwards).
  • Finish rewrite and reorganisation, properly citing everything (mainly from Themes section down).
  • Run through GA checklist on article's talk page.
