Life Debt: Discrediting the comic

I remember there is a novel about Han Solo's early life that describes him saving Chewbacca that is different from the comic. I think it's the A.C.Crispin series (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0553574159/sr=8-2/qid=1140674207/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-8546426-0954548?%5Fencoding=UTF8) but I cannot remember how he saved Chewbacca.

If Han saved a ship of Wookies, why is it that only Chewbacca owes a life debt? Why doesn't Han have a shipful of Wookies with him?

Chewy was the only one in a life-threatening situation at the time. The others were merely working against there will. (I can guess can't I.) 70.105.109.83 21:56, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

major role?

I am a huge Chewie fan, and I am called Chewie by some friends, but honestly, he did not play a major role in SW: ROTS. He was in like three scenes, max. And for most of those, he just stood there. His role was major in IV-VI, but not in III.

I agree. I'm removing the sentence describing his role in the prequel trilogy as "non-trivial". thx1138 10:21, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Death/Chewish Rights

I think someone needs to re-edit the death section. Some rabid Jesus freak added that Chewie's death was comparable to Jesus' and that Chewie died for Anakin's sins, returned after 3 days and spread the gospel. What the hell is that garbage? I'm Christian myself and find it insulting that someone would slander this character with religious crap - leave the bible where it is and stop trying to claim characters as Superman and Chewie as religious icons!

Okay I made the change, here's what the person put that obviously doesn't belong here. "Chewbacca's death paralleled that of Jesus, as he died for Anakin's sins, and was reborn 3 days later. He was beamed up to the Millenium Falcon, where he spread the good gospel around the universe." Just for the record it wasn't a parallel, as Chewbacca remained dead. Bringing him back from the dead would simply make the event less important and cheapen his sacrefice as well as his character.216.191.40.149 00:25, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Are you implying that by Jesus being reborn, his life was cheapened?

No it cheapens the death of the character it when groups try to tack their beliefs and cause onto a pop culture figure. This is the same kind of crap that happened earlier this year with the movie Superman Returns. Both Christian and gay rights groups were claiming Superman was an icon for their causes. Christians said he was the model Christian - who apparently isn't from Earth. The gay groups said he was the model example of a closet gay - leading two lives which apparently are of a news reporter and a superhero. Christians should stick to Jesus and .... Bibleman. Gay groups can have Northstar and those two guys in Young Avengers. Abrynkus 00:23, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you focus on the article at hand? Thanks. bibliomaniac15 03:05, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Annoying

I'm surprised no mention of the annoyance that some people got from his repeated ugly sound in the originals. It was so ugly argh. I was hoping there was a trivia entry or something about the number of times he uttered that deafness causing noise. He ruined a few episodes for me. Yes I'm bitter --Djihed 09:15, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--> Reply: Chewbacca's sound is not annoying! It is the greatest sound in the world. Gregsinclair 18:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chewie's Name!!!

I didn't relize this untill just now and it seems like im the only one who noticed! In the SW game "Knights of the old Republic", during the main story line, its mentioned in dialoge with wookies that there once was a great warrior who was the first to discover about life out side kassyk, and his name was Bacca. Bacca... Chewbacca!!! Chewie is the great-X1000somthing grande descendent of a great warrior king! Im so exited to find this out! Im not sure were to post this! please someone respond. 69.250.130.215 23:59, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We're glad that you've made this discovery, but Wikipedian discussion pages are used for discussion on how to improve the article. You may want to look for some Star Wars forum to post your comments. bibliomaniac15 00:07, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You dont need to sound so deeming, I was just pointing out an intresting connection. Maybe lucus just took the name from chewbacca as an easter egg, i dont know, but you dont need to belittle me by telling me that i cant improve this article and should just go post this on a starwars forum. 69.250.130.215 21:42, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know this is more than six months after these original posts, but I think it should be mentioned. It's his encyclopedic reference, dang it, and King George VI definitely was mentioned as being a descendant of King George I. DallasOConner 00:03, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did Chewbacca live on endor?

I thought ROTJ was his first visit there unsigned comment

Chewbacca never lived on Endor. He was from Kashyykk (I misspelled it, I know). Though in earlier drafts of Return of the Jedi, tHe battle was supposed to be on Kashyykk and there were wookiees who were enslaved working on the Death Star. Because of budget, he changed it and made the smaller Ewoks instead. Azn Clayjar 03:50, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The version I read was that Lucas realized he couldn't use Wookiees for a Vietnam-esque tactics-vs-technology scenario because he'd already established them as a high-tech civilisation. But that doesn't make sense to me either. 68.44.13.236 18:20, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chewbacca Defense (South Park)

The Chewbacca_Defense should be mentioned

What happened to the biography

A year ago, the biography contained lots of information about Chewie. Now, there's barely anything, especially in the part about the movies. Ultrabasurero 02:41, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to Wookieepedia maybe? I see no reason why this article should have a synopsis of all four films.

On the other hand, I do think the current version leaves some questions open; specifically, was Han's regress into alcoholism permanent? I'd assume not, since he's apparently one of the main heroes of the Legacy of the Force series taking place 15 years later. 68.44.13.236 18:14, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chewie's dead?!

sO I'M GESSING we dont put down in the main text that chewie dies but in the expanded uni he does. bearing in mind that's non-canon.Good, because i couldnt bear to read about the death of that lovable wookie! "sobs" Sorry about this, but i'm new to wookie, sorry wiki and i needed to clear that up. (Mad Angry Wookie (talk) 09:03, 23 December 2007 (UTC))[reply]

The expanded universe is considered cannon except when it conflicts with the movies. It is officially licensed by Lucas.

personality

This article doesn't really describe what Chewie's personality is like. I think it should include a brief general description at least, something similar to this passage from the Han Solo article:

"As portrayed by Ford, Han Solo is a superb smuggler with a wry wit, a reckless disposition, and technological savvy"

What The Bloody Hell Is This?

The phrase "This is also a friend of mine AKA Brooke" is a piece of bullshit vanity. I'm deleting it RIGHT NOW. And if anybody tries this kind of crap again, I'll be reporting someone.
