Raquel Roxanne Diaz (born November 17, 1983) better known by her stage name Rocsi, is an American television personality of Honduran and Puerto Rican descent.

Biography

Early life and career

Diaz was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras but moved with her family to New Orleans, Louisiana when she was two years old. She graduated from West Jefferson High School in New Orleans.[1] Next she attended Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, where she briefly dated Ali Landry's ex-boyfriend, Sean Fluharty. However, when Fluharty began to show interest in Baton Rouge Blaze cheerleader Angelina Harvey, Rocsi left Nicholls to pursue a career in broadcasting.

Rocsi was the "Midday Mami" for three years on Chicago's WPWX Power 92 FM. She was first noticed on the MTV reality show Fear.

Television

After BET personalities Big Tigger and Julissa were replaced on July 10, 2006, Rocsi won the role of co-host of BET’s 106 & Park along with Terrence J.[2] The show can be seen in over 85 million homes in the U.S, United Kingdom, Canada, Africa, Caribbean, and Japan.[3] For the debut in Japan, she and co-host Terrence J taped footage there, and appeared on MTV Video Music Awards Japan.[4]

Syndicated/Radio Host

She is currently the co-host of BET’s nationally syndicated radio show 106 & Park Weekend Countdown, which airs in over 40 markets.

Film

Rocsi has just been added to the cast of Vapors along with actors such as Clifton Powell, Keke Palmer and Evan Ross.

Other appearances

Rocsi is featured on the video game Def Jam: Icon as a BET news reporter and has been on the last 3 BET Award Shows.

Other activities

Rocsi founded the Rocstar Foundation which helped provide relief to New Orleans subsequent to Hurricane Katrina. She has taken up boxing as a hobby.[1]
