Paper Trail is the sixth studio album by rapper T.I. scheduled to be released September 30, 2008.[1]

Album information

The album was scheduled to be released on August 12, 2008, September 2, 2008 and then September 9, 2008 but it was pushed back to September 30, 2008. He is working on the new studio album while under house arrest on pending gun charges.[2][3] He has completed 50 tracks for the album already. He says that he only likes about 16 of them and plans to produce about 16 more. The album is entitled Paper Trail, which comes from lyrics he has written down on paper. He abandoned this style of rapping after his first album I'm Serious. "He wanted to take more time to really put something down (this time)," explains his rep.[4] According to his MySpace page, Paper Trail is set to be released September 30th, 2008.[5]

On November 13, 2007, in an official statement T.I. talked about the charges against him and also that he had indeed been working on a new album and the title is Paper Trail.[6]

On August 5, 2008, T.I. confirmed that Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Fall Out Boy and John Legend are set to appear on the album.[7] Other confirmed guests are B.o.B., Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Swizz Beatz and The-Dream.[8]

On August 19, 2008, the iTunes Store released the single "Whatever You Like" to begin the "Countdown to Paper Trail".[11] A song or a music video will be released every week, leading up to the release of the album.[11] The schedule calls for the release of the song "Swing Ya Rag" and the video for "Whatever You Like" on August 26, the song "What's Up, What's Happenin'" on September 2, the video for "What's Up, What's Happenin'" on September 9, the video for "Swing Ya Rag" on September 16, and the song "Ready for Whatever" on September 23.[11] Of these singles, "Whatever You Like" reached the number one spot on the issue of September 6, 2008 on the Hot 100, as well as setting a new record by for biggest jump to the top position in a week on the chart, going from number 71 to number one.[12]
