Wikipedias most rediculous article

3 obcene uncited claims (re: rl controversy), even the 4th one's article lacks verification, as it says "some teens have even been known to video them selves beating the homeless, like bum fights" , therefore I am going to remove those claims til someone who cares for expansion of the article can find proof.

There should be a legal voice to this whole article. The producers and the filmmakers not only have exploited the homeless and the downtrodden. They have used the ruse of monetary gain, shelter, alcohol, sex, and/or narcotics in order to attain goods and services at the expense of an individuals health, or endangering thier lives.

They (those being the makers, producers, filmmakers or anyone otherwise involved) in the crime have physically enabled the commisson of the crime as it occured on tape. Without taking any means to otherwise notify the police or general law enforcement.

Not only is this depravity unacceptable under the law, its civil implications could be very dire for anyone else otherwise involved in the physical, or the psycological abuse propsed by anyone using the ruse of monetary gain, shelter, alcohol, sex and or narcotics.

Several of the subjects on video have been tied with wire ties, duct tape, or other types of ligatures in order to restrict thier movement. Impressing unwilling and otherwise unaware citizens of the United States to engage in criminal behavior while under duress.

Under law the physical restriction of a citizens movement or freedom to leave can only be done by a sworn law-enforcment, peace officer, or deputy in the performace of his or her duty under the law. Otherwise SEVERE civil reperations can be made in favor of anyone whos movement was restricted by anyone not being a law-enforcment officer for denying a citizen of the United States of there inherant civil rights, guarenteed in the Bill of Rights and in the United States Constitution.

Simply saying you provide a service doesnt justify the performace of illegal, uncivil, and immoral behavior. Drug dealers, pimps, and prostitues could just as easily justify thier criminal behavior by saying they to provide a service for the Drug Addict, or the lonley cab driver at 2 in the morning. ITS STILL ILLEGAL!

If I was one of the Homeless featured in any of the bumfights videos and had a need of money. I am sure the profits made from the producers of such an enterprise would be culpable to a degree that would see a considerable cash reward for those who had sustained any and or all damages during the filming. My opinion, sue them all. Put judgement leins against anything they own, or any property they attain for the rest of thier natural life. Set them all up in a nice cushy jail where they can fight for thier life, and see if they dont have a new found respect for those less fortunate who may have to do without.

They show up in my town I will send them all to jail

bum fights 4 is "The Return Of Ruckus" not the return of roofus (roofus isnt even in part 4) and that Bumfights 5 is non existants (FAKE!)

There was recently an interview (on CBC Radio One) with the homeless man who was involved in the whole "Bum Fights" bit, and a series of others, that raised a whole lot of issues over the controversy over this video series. Should that not be a big part of this article considering how many people it's pissed off? Chewbacca1010 22:50, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I've listened to that show. It was very interesting. It was featured on The Current, hosted by Anna Maria Tramonte. Yet, I can't find that particular show in their archives to put a link at the bottom of this page.--Maflebouc 17:12, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Give your life for justice and liberty

I hope all the individuals who hog tie, gag, and torture homeless individuals die, NOW! --ANONYMOUS COWARD0xC0DE 01:02, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But if one hog ties, gags, and tortures an individual with a house that's o.k.? What if one is staying at the mission or perhaps living al fresco in a tent? L0b0t 02:28, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
They can die too, sorry for being unclear in my demands for eternal damnation (I'm dead serious)(maybe not that serious), I call for the immediate execution of all people who engage in this kind of torture. --ANONYMOUS COWARD0xC0DE 00:19, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I should clarify that I was referring to those who do it with-out consent of the homeless individual, and not the producers of the show who can justify there actions. --ANONYMOUS COWARD0xC0DE 05:22, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"In 2005 two teens from Calgary, Alberta who claimed to be "fans" of the show severely beat a homeless man in their city. The two were later sentenced to a year in prison." ONE YEAR!?! truly upsetting. I would love to hear the reasoning of the court room on the day of sentencing. --ANONYMOUS COWARD0xC0DE 01:18, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, here's a reason - it was assault, not murder. Jesus.71.56.86.252 12:54, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The bum hunter

The bum hunter is so much better than bumfights and is way more offensive, someone can justify bumfights, but bum hunter has no justification. I cry laughing when I saw him duck tape that guy to the tree and scrub him with the car wash brush. The bum hunter > the croc hunter.

Although I do not call for your immediate execution, at the very least you should be permanently castrated ( thats just my feelings not what I call for others to do). --ANONYMOUS COWARD0xC0DE 00:23, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

translation please

Someone please translate this into Portuguese so that I can show it to my Brazilian friends and make them hate American culture even more. and they would have a good laugh too.

It's so sad; I never though it could be possible to hate american culture more, but you must not underestimate the capacity of ignorant individuals to engage in appalling behaviors and beliefs. DEATH TO AMERICA!!! AMERICA MORIAR!!! MORTE A AMÉRICA!!! (but long live the american constitution and damn those who strive to dirty the ideals of the constitution e.g. bush and his loyal bushist worshipers) (yes I live in america, damn president bush, the ignorant ingrates have finally achieved majority voting status.) Every time I cross the street and look *both* ways I tell my self "never underestimate the capacity of an american dumb-ass to drive on the wrong side of the road." By the way here the main article is translated into Portuguese. --ANONYMOUS COWARD0xC0DE 01:07, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

melbourne, australia???

The four teenagers who set fire to a bums little hut thing in the bushes in 2004, was actually a TOWN called Mildura not Melboune. Someone didnt even use references....

Dr. Phil Show

The creator of Bum Fights appeared on the Dr. Phil Show today ( December 12, 2006) on an episode about media controversy. The creator of the show defended himself, saying that he was actually helping people. He even claimed to be providing a service and filling a need for people who crave violence and want to see violence against homeless people. He also admitted that while he paid the homeless people $20 or a bottle of alcohol for their appearances, he himself has made millions of dollars. After watching a video taped interview of the creator, Dr. Phil called him and his videos "despicable" and asked him to leave the stage immediately. When he refused to leave, security guards escorted him off of the set and Dr. Phil explained that he refused to have such a "despicable" person on his show. Dr. Phil's next guests included a woman whose homeless brother was murdered in a style similar to bum fights, and a homeless advocate who sited several cases where people what committed crimes against the homeless based on the bum fights videos.

Could someone please incorporate this into the article?

Saw that on YouTube - I thought it was a cheap hypocrisy from the host. Apparently, the scumbag guest shaved his head and dressed in a suit to mock Dr Phd.--19:52, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Dr. Phil claiming that he hadn't seen the video prior to that is just BS. If you have a TV show named after you, wouldn't you think that he would have some creative control over the content of his show. He had to know what this persons work was all about before having him on. It seems to me he just ignored it untill the guy got on stage and then booted him off to put himself over as a moral hero, instead of the moron that he is. Basbalfrk 21:06, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, just about every TV or radio show with the host's name tacked on the title relies on his producers to cast the show for him. And, it is true that most of the time these hosts haven't the slightest clue who their guests are or know what are on the videos prior to airing. Besides Dr. Phil, shows like Howard Stern, Bill O'Reilly, Jerry Stringer and many others are produced this way. Howard Stern especially - time and time again he complains about his producers bringing on worthless guests, and he ends up having to kill air time that would otherwise have been spent on the guest he earlier kicked out of the studio. So unless someone can prove that Dr. Phil indeed viewed the video and read about Bumfights ahead of time, I believe that he was sincere. Groink 09:05, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I really trust Dr. Phil about as far as I can throw him (He's around 260lbs) so I think that says a lot. He does some things for charity but that's about all he's really done to help people. I highly doubt most of the people who go on his show are really helped. His pop psychology really doesn't help people as far as I know. I could go into an anti-dr.phil rant right now but that's off topic from this so I won't. What I will say is that we should get some sources on this talk page about the producer of Bumfights side of the story and figure out what really happened which we may include in the article.Wikidudeman 13:50, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly he had seen the tape, as he warned the audience extensively that it contained sick material not suitable for children (paraphrasing there) which was obviously more extensive a warning than usually given. Even if he had not seen the tape, when told by the producers to warn so extensively, he would obviously want to see the video to make sure it wasn't goatse or something (a bit much, but you get the point, no?). FGSFDS dr. phil was just trying to look good for his audience.

I deleted the blurb in the Dr. Phil section explaining that his kicking the producer off the set was "Likely due to the fact the guest was wearing a "Dr. Phil" costume and Dr. Phil likely figured the Bum Fights producer was going to display the fact his exploitation of persons for personal gain was not much different than Dr. Phil's." This sounds completely non-objective, and the purpose of this article is to portray the facts about Bumfights, not knock Dr. Phil (whether you like him or not). --Delong71487 07:35, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. Phil is taped and he bothered to air it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.162.155.57 (talk) 11:29, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change of name.

Bumfights 4: Return Of Rufus is not called that.

It's called Bumfights 4: Return Of "Ruckus" not "rufus" but "ruckus". It says it on their home page.

Is it a possibility that the South Park episode featuring the "Cripple Fight" is connected to this phenomena?

Broken Link

I'm not sure where it's supposed to go, but this link (near the end of the article) is broken. Elliotharmon 15:16, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are they real?

Are the bumfight movies real? By that I mean, are they really doing what they say. Are they real homeless people talked into fighting in turn for money and drugs? I have not previously seen Bumfights (you used to have to pay) but with youtube I decided to see what everyone was talking about.

In one clip, two pieces of crack coccain, a lighter, crackpipe and 100 dollar bill were put onto a plate. A bum was chained to a lamppost with the plate put slightly out of reach and filmed while he struggled to retrive the plate.

Another one showed a man take a crowbar, walk upto a car in a parking lot (with a person inside) and start smashing out the windows.

And most disturbing of all, one where the bum has his teeth pulled out with a pair of pliers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.226.126 (talk) 00:50, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Social Commentary?

I would love to see a comment on that possibility (right now it's not even hinted at AFAIS). Now I cannot really judge the whole thing enough to state facts here - but after seeing most of Bumfights 3, it seemed to me very much like social commentary. Pointing out to the masses what is going wrong out there, is a good thing - even if it uses controversy and provocation to get its message across. That this society has created a class that has been stolen of nearly all dignity, is something too many people ignore or don't see. Do we really wanna live with that - are we all ok, that those people have to live like that? And unfortunately it seems to get much worse recently. Well I suppose you can see the show in another way, and just enjoy seeing people getting hurt. But I do see something else there - and I wonder if it was intentional. --Thomas (talk) 02:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

heh, should ths site be included in the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.234.63.52 (talk) 04:26, 13 July 2008 (UTC) alright but should it? 201.234.63.52 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.234.63.52 (talk) 00:29, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lost Cause

I believe that the bum that sued the producers...is just waiting for cash to get his next fix...booze, crack or whatever...not to straighten out his life...I say fuck em' anybody got something else to say than fuck you too...
